I had my arm wrapped around Scarlett as the two of us walked toward the house.
She smiled as she looked up at me and smiled, biting her bottom l*ip. I leaned in and pecked them, making her blush as I caught sight of mum and dad walking out of their house. However, it wasn’t until I caught HER scent that my heart dropped and the moment broke completely. “Tell me that you are not ignoring my calls because of her” Delilah said, making me frown. She walked toward me, and putting my hand in front of Scarlett, I pushed her behind me, not wanting Delilah to hurt her. However, that didn’t stop Delilah, if anything, it made her even angrier than she already was. Her eyes widened in surprise, and a low growl escaped her c*hest, making me frown. I growled back in warning, making her turn her attention to me. Mum and dad looked at me, wanting to stop the woman. I shook my head at them and looked at Scarlett over my shoulder.
“Scar, Neonata, go inside and check on Nasia, I will be back in a bit” I said, listening to my mate’s racing heartbeat. Her hands shook, and she wrapped her arms around herself, wanting to cover that; however, I could feel her fear as she looked at my ex.
“Neonata? Scar? What the actual f*uck?” Delilah asked, wanting to stop my mate from passing her to go inside. I growled at her, stopping her from approaching my mate;
however, not taking the hint, Delilah wrapped her hand around my mate’s arm, stopping her “what the f*uck did you do to him? Huh? Who the f*uck do you think you are?”
“Let me go” Scarlett hissed, trying to remove her arm. Delilah growled in warning, wanting her to stop squirming, but my mate didn’t, and pulling her arm from her tight grip, she hissed when Delilah’s nails scratched her, drawing out blood. My eyes widened, and a low warning growl escaped my c*hest before I could stop it, startling both my mate and Delilah. Her eyes widened in surprise, and taking a step back, I could tell that she feared my reaction.
“Get the f*uck out of my pack before I rip your head off” I said, growling at her. Delilah’s eyes dropped to the ground as tears fell from them, and taking a step back, she looked at Scarlett one last time before shaking her head at me.
“I gave everything up for you. My pack, my family…”
“I never asked you to. In case you haven’t noticed, I did tell you not to do so; however, you chose to want to let go of things. You chose to…” she slapped me before I could finish my sentence, making me growl in warning.
“I fell in love with you, you f*ucking bastard. I tried every possible thing to make you forget her, but no, you muttered her name every single f*ucking night for a year. Mates or not, whether you f*ucking f*ucked her or not, you still did” she snapped, making Scarlett frown “I prevented you from being friends, it did not work. I made you hate her, it still did not f*ucking work. I tried to set her up with different men, the b*itch was too blind to even spare them a second glance. I f*ucking fell in love with you and she f*ucking took you from me”
“She did not take me from you. The two of us were never meant to be. The two of us have always been mates, and if you are too blind to see it, then you should not be putting the blame on me. I told you on the very first night that we met, I had other responsibilities to take care of. I had a pack to f*ucking run, and I had a family to maintain, but no, did Delilah listen? You f*ucking chose to want to get in my bed, and year after year, you believed that we were a couple and that you had me wrapped around your finger” I said, glaring at her “if I respected you enough to not cheat on you, that does not mean…”
“YOU F*UCKING GOT HER PREGNANT!” Delilah said, yelling at me as she pointed at Scarlett “you f*ucked her and got her pregnant, how the f*uck do you claim that you haven’t cheated on me? You refused to mark me, you refused to t*ouch me, you refused to allow me to give you kids, and went ahead, f*ucking her…”
“She is my mate” I said, stopping Delilah “and I was not going to mark you when I knew that my heart belonged to another woman. You, yourself, knew that I was in love with her, and your insecurities are what drove her and I apart. The two of us have been friends since we were kids, some believed that we were lovers, and until a very close period of time, I know that even my family wanted us being a couple; therefore, you are going to cut off your f*ucking crap and will leave the two of us alone. I have no time for whatever f*ucking bullshit you have in your head right now, and the LAST thing I need is to deal with you”
I turned to look at Scarlett whose eyes were wide in surprise, and walking toward her, I frowned at the sight of her blood, pouring from her arm. I put my finger on her hand, and nodding at her to go inside, I followed her, leaving Delilah who was out, being the center of attention of the whole pack.
Scarlett entered the house, and frowning, it seemed like her relaxation from earlier seemed to completely leave her as her heart raced against her ribcage. I walked toward her and frowned when she flinched, her heart racing in fear. I shook my head at her, and cupping her cheeks, I made her look at me. “Breathe, Scarlett” I whispered to her, watching as she took deep and slow breaths “no one is going to hurt you”
“She did” Scarlett said, looking at her arm “I couldn’t even stop her or fend for myself…”
“Shh” I whispered to her, stopping her. Being an omega, she didn’t get the same training as other wolves did. Plus, her leaving the pack ever so often only made her training more unstable than it already was. “
“Her b*ody and physic were weaker than the other pack members, but that was the least of my concern, I knew that she could easily train for that “I can teach you how to fight, and building your strength won’t take that much time, especially if you’re willing to put in the efforts”
“I am, Alexander, but I am not as strong as Delilah is, and I might never be”
“You will be a lot stronger than she ever was” I said, smiling at her, assuring her “you have fought in and out to keep yourself and our daughter safe when you had nothing on you. You fought with your stubborn head to keep us following you in some odd maze, and you stood strong despite Delilah pressuring you, and did not flinch; therefore, with the proper training, you are going to be stronger than she ever was”
“Do you really believe that?” Scarlett asked, making me smile. I nodded, and running my finger over her cheek, I leaned in to k*iss her. “I know so, Neonata. I always have, and I always will” I whispered to her “now, how about we go and check on Anastasia? I bet she is missing you already, and this is the longest we’ve spent away from her…”
