Nancy lowered her head and remained silent.

Her silence made him feel uneasy.

“Nancy, would you forgive me?”

Nancy’s body trembled slightly, and she seemed to have made a decision. “Can we just forget about the past, no matter who owes who, or who has wronged who?”

Mick looked at the face in front of him firmly and said, “Good!”

“And,” she hesitated for a moment, “do you really love me?”

“Yes,” he answered without hesitation, “I love you. You are the first person I have ever loved in my life.”

-Nancy was stunned, knowing that this was not a lie.

His eyes and his tone were telling her that he loved her.

Moreover, a man like him wouldn’t bother lying.

If he really loved her, then maybe he would also love the child in her belly.

Now, he should choose to accept this child.

They might be able to be together, and this child of hers… would be their first child.

By then, the child would have a father, a mother, and they would be a happy family!

Nancy didn’t say anything else and lowered her head to finish her porridge.

Should she admit that the child was his?

Not long ago, she denied it.

“Um… about the child in my belly, I want to…” she started to speak, but he interrupted her.

“Can we not have the child?” Mick asked.

“What?” Nancy was stunned, clearly not expecting him to say such a thing.

“Can we not have this child? If you like children, we can wait until you’re better and have one later,”

Mick said.

“Why not? Is it because of what I said before, that the child isn’t yours?” Nancy asked anxiously. “That wasn’t true, the child is yours.”

“No, I never doubted that the child is mine,” Mick said.

“Then why? You said you love me, so why not have the child?” Nancy was confused.

“This child is too much of a burden on your body. If you continue the pregnancy, you may not even make it to the day of delivery, your body may collapse before then!” Mick said. “So we don’t want this child. The doctor will perform an abortion for you, and after the abortion, with treatment, your body will slowly recover.”

“I don’t want to!” Nancy immediately rejected. “This is my child, I won’t have an abortion!”

“Nancy!” Mick bent down, holding her face in his hands, looking at her calmly, soothing her excited emotions. “This is for your health. Your body is too injured, and every part needs time to recover. There wi be another child in the future. How many children you want, I will give you I promise to take good care of you in the future!”

“How many children will you give me?” Nancy suddenly smiled bitterly “How can you say that so lightly? This child and I have survived on the brink of life and death together! Everyone thought I was dead, but Miss Fowler insisted on saving me, so I can talk to you here now?”

She shouted, touching her belly. The little life inside her was so vivid!

She could feel the fetal movement, even though she was lying in bed and couldn’t move much due to har injuries. But every fetal movement made her want to live even more strongly.

Because only by living can she take care of this child in the future!

She even felt that the reason she woke up was because of the child in her belly, because she wanted to give birth to it and become a mother!

“Now, I want to keep this child. As long as I am this child’s mother, I will protect it!” Even if it’s dangerous, wants to take a chance!

Because of this child, she was given hope and courage to live on!

“But what if something happens? The doctor has already determined that your body is not suitable for childbirth!” His voice unintentionally grew louder, and his worst fears seemed to be becoming a reality.

“Then I will bear the consequences myself!” Nancy said with determination.

“You’re just…” Mick impatiently stood up, not knowing what to do with her stubbornness.

He should have known that she wasn’t someone who could be easily persuaded!

“Regardless, this child must not be aborted!” he concluded.

“Whether or not to have an abortion should be my decision!” Nancy insisted. “I won’t have an abortion.

As long as I’m alive, the child will live too. Unless I die, I will safely give birth to this child!”

The word “die” seemed to trigger something in Mick.

His eyes suddenly turned red. “Do you know what you’re saying? How can you die?! How can you?! I won’t allow you to die, I won’t!”

“I don’t want to discuss this with you anymore. You have no right to decide the fate of this child,” Nancy said, not wanting to continue the conversation.

“I absolutely won’t allow you to die! So you can’t keep this child, you can’t!” Mick grabbed Nancy’s shoulders, as if he had fallen into some kind of madness.

“Ouch!” She cried out in pain. Her shoulder was already injured, and the pain quickly spread when he grabbed her.

Nancy’s face turned pale, and she tried to break free from his grasp, but she had no way to do so.

“Nancy, promise me, you won’t die. Promise me, don’t keep this child. Promise me, you promise me!”

Mick persisted.

“Let go… let go…” Nancy struggled to say, “Mick… please let go, my shoulder… it hurts so much.”

“Promise me, promise me!” He was still begging for an answer from her.

But Nancy seemed unable to bear the pain in her shoulder any longer and suddenly fainted.

“Nancy! Nancy!” It was only then that Mick came to his senses, shouting her name desperately.

But she didn’t respond at all.

Outside the ward, the bodyguard, upon hearing Mick’s cries, quickly opened the door to take a look and called for the doctor.

When the Reed family arrived after hearing the news, the doctor was examining the unconscious

Nancy.

Mick stood stiffly on one side, trembling all over, his hands shaking badly.

“What’s going on?” Jasper asked anxiously.

“Miss Fowler fainted due to excessive pain. She should wake up in a while.” The doctor explained after the examination.

“Excessive pain?” Jasper was puzzled. “Why did she suddenly experience excessive pain? Did her condition relapse? Or is it because of the baby in her belly?”

“No, it’s me!” Mick said in a trembling voice, lowering his head and looking at his trembling hands. “I shouldn’t have lost control and grabbed her shoulder. She… she clearly cried out in pain, but I still didn’t let go!”

Mick was deeply self-blaming. At that moment, he was surrounded by the fear of losing her, desperately wanting her to promise to live well, but forgetting how fragile she was now.

Even if it was just a little bit of force, she might not be able to bear it.

Especially when he loses control of his emotions.

He had made a promise to himself that he would never hurt her again.

But now, he was the one causing her pain.

“Lost control?!” Jasper was startled.

Jason looked at his son thoughtfully.

Grace worriedly asked, “Nancy still refuses to have an abortion?”

Mick remained silent.

And this silence made everyone understand Nancy’s decision.

“Alright, you need to go and adjust your emotions. Your current state is not suitable for staying in her hospital room,” Jason said.

Mick pursed his lips, took one last deep look at Nancy, and then left the room.

Grace expressed her concern, “What about Mick…”

“I’ll find a psychologist for him to see,” Jason said.

Given his current state, it’s likely that Mick has some psychological issues. Although Mason appears more paranoid than Mick on a daily basis.

Mick is smoother in his interactions with people than Mason.

But as a father, he naturally understands that his eldest son may become more son once he becomes paranoid.

It’s like I’ve been emotionally blocked for a long time, but now that I’ve met Nancy, all have an outlet.

If this paranoia continues to escalate, it may not be good for either of them!

Grace nodded in agreement.

second

She also noticed that her eldest son’s emotions were clearly off earlier!

“Is everything okay with my big brother?” Jasper asked anxiously.

“He’ll be fine. Don’t forget, he’s your big brother!” Jason reassured her.

Jasper breathed a sigh of relief. Yes, she should have faith in her big brother!

When Nancy woke up again, Jasper was sitting by her bedside.

“You’re awake? How do you feel? Are you still in pain?” Jasper asked anxiously.

Nancy looked at Jasper in confusion. “What happened to me?”
