“Are you jealous?” She persisted in asking.
Mason remained silent.
Suddenly, Veronica exclaimed, “Oh!” and placed her hand on Mason’s ear. “Mason, your ear is red.”
“Stop touching it,” Mason stiffened.
Her touch made his ear particularly sensitive, and a strange sensation exploded throughout his body.
If he let this feeling continue, he would…
“Your ear is so soft and comfortable to touch,” Veronica seemed addicted, continuing to rub and knead his ear.
This feeling… it’s really addictive! How did she not notice it before?
It seemed that just touching the earlobe was not enough, so she began to scratch the inner wall of his car.
But the next moment, everything spun around, and when Veronica regained her senses, Mason had already pressed her down onto the back seat of the car. Then, a partition slowly rose between the front and back seats.
“What’s going on? What are you doing?” Veronica looked puzzled. However, being pressed down by
Mason and separated from the front seat, the back seat became a closed and narrow space, making
Veronica feel like the air around her was heating

“What do you think I want to do?” Mason’s voice was slightly hoarse. He leaned over, and their bodies pressed together. His fingers touched her ear. “Is the ear fun to play with?”
It was unbearable! Veronica’s body trembled, feeling as if all the blood in her body had rushed to her ears. Even her toes curled

“We’re in the car, and the driver is still in the front seat…” She forced herself to speak, feeling her ears burning hot.
When she touched his ear, she didn’t feel anything. But now that he was the one touching her ear, she realized that the feeling was indescribable.
“It’s okay, the driver won’t care about what’s happening behind him. Besides, we’re separated by a partition, he can’t see anything,” said Mason.
But even if he can’t see anything, he can still hear us, thought Veronica to herself.
As if he had guessed what she was thinking, he whispered, “If you really don’t want the driver to hear anything, then just don’t make any noise.”
“Huh?” She was startled, and then her body trembled.
Mason’s lips had already kissed her earlobe, and the closeness of their bodies made her acutely aware of his physical changes and the increasingly heavy breathing.
Suddenly, she understood what he meant by what he had just said.
Don’t make any noise… but how is that even possible?
Veronica’s face turned bright red, and she regretted touching his ear so recklessly. If she had known it would be like this, she would have at least waited until they were alone.
“Don’t bite your lip, you’ll break it,” Mason whispered in her ear.
As he spoke, his fingers slipped into her mouth, and his lips lingered on her chin, neck, and collarbone…
Veronica didn’t know how long she and Mason had been “entangled,” but when she got out of the car with a red face, she realized that the car had already been parked at the entrance of the restaurant’s parking lot, and the driver had even gotten out and was waiting nearby.
Did the driver hear us? He probably even knows what happened in the car!
Thinking of this, Veronica’s face turned even redder, like a cooked shrimp.
Mason, who was one of the parties involved, appeared calm and collected without any hint of blushing.
Veronica was surprised because she knew that the man who would blush when she touched his ear was not blushing at all.
Even during the meal, Veronica’s face remained flushed.
“Why is your face still so red? Are you still shy?” Mason’s voice suddenly rang out.
Veronica stiffened. Of course, she was still feeling shy! But what came out of her mouth was, “N-no, not at all.”
“If that’s the case, then why haven’t you been looking at me?” he asked. “Do you know that during this meal, you’ve hardly lifted your head to look at me? I can count the number of times you’ve looked at me on one hand.”
She bit her lip and suddenly looked up at him. “I-I’m looking at you now!”
He smiled slightly. “Are you really that embarrassed? Didn’t you take the initiative to press yourself against me when we were at your house before?”
“T-that’s not the same thing,” she stuttered.
“Oh, what’s different?” he asked in return.
One was her taking the initiative, and the other was her being passive! Veronica thought to herself, but she couldn’t bring herself to say such embarrassing words to him. Her face felt like it was on fire.
“Alright, no matter what, even if you blush and feel embarrassed, you have to get used to it,” Mason said, raising his hand and gently stroking her crimson cheek. “Because in the future, we’ll be doing even more intimate things!”
Boom!
Veronica’s face erupted like a volcano, and blood rushed to her face at lightning speed.
After the meal, Veronica didn’t even know what she had eaten. She just felt her face burning and her eyes not knowing where to look.
It wasn’t until they reached the entrance of the detention center that Veronica finally calmed down.
The thought of seeing Daniel soon made her body tremble slightly. Was she afraid? Was it because
Daniel had tied her up in the old campus that was about to explode, with his twisted and sinister face and the things he said, that left her with psychological trauma?
Suddenly, a hand grabbed hers, and the warmth from the other person’s hand spread to hers, causing her trembling to stop.
“Are you afraid?” Mason asked.
“A little bit,” Veronica chuckled bitterly. She had come to see Daniel on her own accord, but now she was scared.
“With me here, there’s nothing to be afraid of,” Mason reassured her.
A simple sentence that calmed her anxiety.
“Okay,” Veronica replied, “let’s go, I’m fine now.”
The two of them entered the detention center and arrived at the room where Daniel was being held alone.
Veronica and Mason’s hands remained clasped, even when they saw Daniel being escorted out by the prison guard.
The current Daniel was very different from the one Veronica remembered. His face was waxen, his hair was shaved into a crew cut, and he was wearing the uniform of the detention center. He looked very gloomy.
The sunny boy from before had finally become like this! Veronica felt a complex emotion that was hard to describe.
Perhaps back then, she never would have thought that this scene would happen.
“You’re lucky to be alive. It seems that God really doesn’t have eyes,” Daniel spoke in a harsh tone.
“Are you here to laugh at me or to watch me cry and repent in front of you? Let me tell you, if I do that, it’s all because of you. If there’s anything I regret, it’s not killing you, Veronica, directly at the beginning.
That way, when Mason came to save you, he would have only saved a corpse. Wouldn’t that have been more fun?”
Mason’s face changed slightly, and a fierce look flashed in his eyes.
On the other hand, Veronica remained calm and unaffected by Daniel’s words.
Or perhaps it should be said that Veronica originally thought she would be angry, upset, and heartbroken, but after listening to Daniel’s words, she didn’t feel anything at all.
It was like being a bystander, just listening to someone complaining about something irrelevant.
“So it seems that I should still be grateful to you. At least you spared my life back then, so I had the opportunity to resolve the conflict with Mason and be together again,” Veronica said.
Daniel’s face turned ugly. “Veronica, do you really think that you can live happily ever after with Mason from now on? He is the Mason of the Reed family, and what about you? What kind of background do you have? He is good to you now, but it’s only because of the bond you two share from growing up together. He hasn’t seen too many women yet. When he gets older and sees more people and faces more temptations, do you think he will still treat you the same way? By then, the person he once risked his life to save will just be a thing of the past to him!”
“That’s just your own opinion,” Veronica said. “Daniel, you always like to speculate about others based on your own thoughts, but you forget that everyone is different. Maybe if you had money and power, you would become like this, but Mason won’t!”
“What makes you think he won’t?” Daniel’s face twisted.
“If you really believe in someone, you don’t need a reason, Veronica said. “I trust him, and I trust that he will always be consistent with me. It’s that simple.”
These words were like a cold slap in the face, hitting Daniel hard, and making him want to pounce on
Veronica in anger.
However, before he could make a move, the prison guard had already subdued him.
“Daniel, after today, I think you really have no meaning to me anymore. Let’s meet in court in a few days.” And after the court, she and Daniel would probably never see each other again in this lifetime.
“Veronica, you will regret it! You will definitely regret trusting Mason in the future!” Even though his body was restrained, Daniel still shouted at Veronica.
But she ignored Daniel and just said to Mason beside her, “Okay, it’s over. Let’s go back.”
Mason pursed his lips and gazed at Veronica. After a moment, he spoke gently, “Okay, let’s go back.”
The two of them walked out of the meeting room, and they could still faintly hear Daniel’s shouting from inside.
As they got into the car, Veronica looked at Mason and suddenly said, “I won’t regret it.”
He was taken aback, but then understood that she was responding to what Daniel had said to him earlier.
“Do you really believe that my feelings for you won’t change in the future?” he asked.
“If I didn’t believe it, I wouldn’t be with you now,” Veronica said. “Mason, we’ve been together for so long, from childhood to adolescence, and now. You should be the person I’ve spent the most time with in my life. Why wouldn’t I believe in us?”
Upon hearing this, he turned to her and hugged her, “I love you, Veronica.”
A simple sentence, but the most heartfelt confession.
The following days were busy for Veronica. First, the Reed family held a press conference for her, announcing her relationship with Mason and also announcing the severing of ties with the Barlow family.
Of course, the so-called severing of ties was only verbal and had no legal significance, but it sent a signal to others: the Reed family had nothing to do with the Barlow family’s debts, and they wouldn’t help them in any way.
Immediately, many people criticized the Reed family for being too powerful. They not only refused to help their future in-laws, but also made their future daughter-in-law sever ties with her own family.
Many people also attacked Veronica, accusing her of abandoning her family in order to marry into a wealthy family. They called her heartless and cruel.
