It was really him!

She stared at the face that was so close to her, her eyes filled with shock and disbelief.

Why was he here, and why did he help her block the sauce?

Most of the pasta had splashed onto Mason’s expensive suit, and the people around them were surprised.

As the perpetrator, Angelica’s face showed a hint of panic, but then she saw that Mason was a stranger and said aggressively, “Who are you? I was teaching my assistant a lesson, what are you doing here?

Do you want to play the hero and save the beauty?”

Mason ignored Angelica and only looked at Veronica, his gaze deep.

Even he himself couldn’t explain what his behavior was.

When he saw that she was about to be splashed with sauce, he didn’t even think twice before rushing over.

This behavior wasn’t something he had thought through, but rather a…instinctive reaction, or you could say it was instinct!

His body instinctively protected this woman!

Even if he had used hypnosis to diminish the feelings he once had for her, even if he could ignore her when he saw her, when she was in danger, he would instinctively protect her.

Why was that?

Angelica’s voice woke Veronica from her shock. She looked at Mason with concern and nervousness,

“Are you okay? Did you get burned?”

Although the pasta had been bought for some time, it had been kept in a thermal bag before, so the sauce should still be quite hot.

“No,” Mason replied stiffly.

Angelica was furious that she was being ignored, “Who are you? This is the backstage area, not just anyone can come in here!”

Mason turned his head and looked at Angelica with a cold gaze.

This glance made Angelica’s heart tremble, not just because of the man’s handsome appearance, but also because of the dead and cold chill in his eyes, which was terrifying.

Who is this person…?

Is he a celebrity? Or someone related to the entertainment industry? Angelica desperately tried to think, but she had no impression of this man at all.

If this man was really someone in the industry, with such looks, there was no reason for him not to be famous. At the very least, she should have some impression of him.

Just then, a voice rang out, “Mason!”

Jasmine had just met her idol, but they had to leave the room so that the idol could fix their clothes and makeup. As they stepped out into the hallway, Jasmine saw her own Mason standing not far away, surrounded by a group of people.

Jasmine hurried over, and upon seeing Veronica, paused for a moment before noticing the sauce and pasta bits on Mason’s clothes and the scattered pasta on the ground. “Mason, what happened?” she asked.

“Just got my clothes dirty,” Mason replied coldly.

Tina and Chandler also approached at this moment. Chandler furrowed his brow slightly upon seeing the scene, while Tina looked at Mason, Veronica, and the situation and began to suspect something.

“Who spilled pasta on Mason?” she asked.

Many people’s eyes turned to Angelica, who looked embarrassed. Tina raised an eyebrow and asked her, “Was it you?”

“So what if it was?” Angelica retorted. “I didn’t mean to spill it on him. I was scolding my own assistant, and he just happened to run into it!”

“Assistant?” Tina’s gaze turned to Veronica. “Are you her assistant, Veronica?”

“Yes, Miss Kinsman wasn’t satisfied with the pasta I bought, so…” Veronica bit her lip, feeling embarrassed. She didn’t want

Mason to see her in such a state, but unfortunately, this was the situation. “Mason helped me block it…”

Tina’s eyes flickered between Veronica and Mason, while Chandler looked surprised.

Just then, the middle-aged man who had led Jasmine and the others to meet Derick stepped out of the room and saw the commotion. He hurried over and, upon seeing the obvious pasta stains on Mason’s clothes, was shocked. “What…what happened? Who did this?” he asked.

He even pulled out some tissues and began to wipe Mason’s clothes, bowing and apologizing profusely. “Mason, I’m so sorry that you had to go through this…”

The other onlookers around were all stunned. After all, most people were aware of this man’s identity.

However, one of the organizers of the concert, who was usually bowed and scraped to by others, had never seen him apologize to anyone like this before.

This could only mean that this man’s status and position were far higher than that of the organizer.

Suddenly, many people’s eyes turned to Angelica, some with sympathy and some with schadenfreude.

Angelica was also dumbfounded. Who was this man? He made the organizer apologize like this.

But Mason just said coldly, “It’s nothing, just some dirt on my clothes.”

As he spoke, Mason took off his jacket and put it on a nearby chair. Then he turned to Jasmine and said, “Alright, you’ve seen the person you wanted to see. Let’s go to our seats outside and wait for the concert to start.”

“Oh…okay.” Jasmine was taken aback for a moment, then followed Mason towards the exit backstage.

But as they were leaving, she still said to Veronica, “Veronica, the birthday gift you gave me today,

Mason and I are going out first.”

Tina said to Veronica, “Veronica, if you don’t want to be this person’s assistant, just say so. I can ask my dad to help you. find a suitable job.”

“Thank you, but not for now,” Veronica said.

“I see,” Tina muttered, “But just now, Mason was helping you, right? I knew it, how could feelings just disappear like that? Mason must still like you. I support you!”

Tina’s words made Veronica feel bitter. She and Mason could never be anything.

“Alright, let’s go,” Chandler said, pulling Tina away.

However, the onlookers around had already sniffed out something unusual from Tina’s words just now.

Who is Veronica and what is her relationship with Mason?

The person who was previously bowing and scraping to Mason now looks at Veronica with confusion and asks, “Do you know them?”

Veronica replies quietly, “Yes, I do.”

Curious, the person asks, “What is your relationship with them?”

Veronica hesitates for a moment before saying, “My family has received favors from the Reed family, so I know them.”

The person nods thoughtfully, then looks at the time and urges everyone to go their separate ways since the concert will start soon.

After everyone leaves, Angelica asks Veronica, “Which Reed family did you mention earlier?”

Veronica replies, “The Reed family from Reed Group.” Even if she didn’t say it, Angelica could have found out from somewhere else.

Angelica is shocked and her bad premonition comes true. It really is that Reed Group’s Reed family.

No wonder the person was bowing and scraping to Mason, and if the person called him Mason, then he must be one of the famous triplets from the Reed family.

By the way, in Angelica’s mind, she suddenly remembers the last charity event where Veronica was splashed with a drink and Grand Princess Jasper from the Reed family came forward to help!

It seems that Veronica’s relationship with the Reed family is not shallow!

Thinking of this, a hint of jealousy flashes in Angelica’s eyes. She is just an ordinary assistant, but she has made such a big mistake because of Veronica, almost causing her to be in big trouble!

“You did it on purpose!” Angelica suddenly says.

“What?” Veronica asks, confused.

“Are you deliberately trying to make me angry because you know the Reed family will be here today?

Are you intentionally playing the victim in front of them to gain sympathy and get more benefits?”

Angelica questioned sharply.

“No, I didn’t think that way, and I didn’t know they would come here tonight,” Veronica replied.

“Hmph!” Angelica snorted, “It’s better if they don’t. Don’t think that just because someone from the

Reed family speaks up for you, you can climb higher. It’s just a wealthy person’s occasional act of kindness. You’re just a small assistant, a poor student!”

After speaking, Angelica walked straight back to her dressing room.

Veronica stood still, and the cleaning staff came over to clean up the pasta spilled on the ground.

“Whose clothes are these?” the cleaner asked Veronica, who was still standing there.

Veronica followed the cleaner’s gaze and saw the stained clothes that Mason had taken off and left on the chair earlier. She quickly picked up the clothes and said, “It’s my friend’s clothes.”

But she knew in her heart that she and Mason had once been so close, but now they couldn’t even be called friends.

The concert began, and the stage and audience were lively. Tina and Jasmine were waving their glow sticks with excitement, fully immersed as qualified fans.

But Mason, sitting in his seat, seemed to be isolated from the noise and excitement, with his head down, lost in thought, looking so out of place.

During the intermission, Tina and Jasmine went to the restroom, and Mason and Chandler naturally followed.

Standing in the rest area outside the restroom, Chandler looked at Mason and asked, “I saw you seemed to be thinking about something during the concert. Were you thinking about

Veronica?”

Mason coldly looked at him and said, “You better not mention the name ‘Veronica’ in front of me.”

“By now, do you really not want to hear those three words?”

Chandler said. “The more you don’t want to hear them, the more it shows that you care.”

Care? Mason snorted. How could he possibly care? His feelings for Veronica had long been forgotten due to hypnosis.

“I don’t,” he denied.

“Is that so?” Chandler smiled. “Just now, you got dirty because you were protecting Veronica.”

Mason suddenly furrowed his brows, then took a step forward and grabbed Chandler’s collar. “You’re not someone who meddles in other people’s business. What do you really want?”
