She knew that her father would send bodyguards to protect her outside the school. Once she left the school gate, there should be bodyguards from the Reed family around her.

Sure enough, after a moment, someone answered the phone on the other end, “Jasper, what’s up?”

“Come and save someone! Hurry to my alley and help me save the person who was beaten!” Jasper said urgently.

After a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, the person spoke in a strange tone, “Jasper, are you sure you really want to save someone?”

“Of course I’m sure! Is there any reason not to?” Every minute wasted would mean more harm to

Roger.

“But, that person shouldn’t need saving.”

“Huh?” Jasper was taken aback and turned his head to look down the alley. All around him were people lying on the ground, but Roger was still standing there unscathed.

Jasper blinked his eyes, wondering what was going on.

The bystanders around him were equally shocked.

Who would have thought that things would turn out this unexpectedly? The person they thought would be beaten badly was actually the one doing the beating.

One by one, the little hooligans were howling on the ground. Just then, a police car arrived and Jasper got out of the car with a police officer.

The onlookers immediately opened up a path for the police officer to walk into the alley. He looked at the hooligans lying on the ground and then at Roger, “Did you beat these people up?”

Before Roger could answer, a woman’s voice suddenly rose, “I can testify that he acted in self-

defense!”

In an instant, everyone’s gaze was focused on Jasper, who had his hand raised and looked like a picture of justice.

Roger looked at Jasper, who looked dazzling in his righteousness, and felt a sharp pain in his eyes.

The whole group went into the police station, and Jasper, as a witness, also came to the station to give a statement.

After she finished giving her statement, she walked to the lobby of the police station and saw Roger coming out of the interrogation room.

“We have received testimony from multiple eyewitnesses that proves the other party initiated physical contact, so you are free to go,” the police told Roger. “However, you need to keep your phone line open and be available to come back if necessary!”

Roger nodded in agreement.

At this moment, several injured thugs came out from the interrogation room and upon seeing Roger, they immediately shouted loudly, “We’re going to sue this kid! It wasn’t self-defense, he used excessive force!”

“If you want to accuse him of excessive self-defense, you can naturally file a lawsuit!” said a police officer. “This is a police station, not a place for you to cause trouble!”

A few thugs’ faces changed slightly. The leader walked up to Roger and stared at him fiercely, saying,

“Kid, I remember you. You won’t have a good life from now on. Aren’t you a student at Stanford

University? I’ll make sure you can’t stay at Stanford University anymore!”

Roger frowned, about to speak, when a figure stepped forward and blocked him. With an arrogant tone, the figure said, “If you dare to cause trouble for him again in the future, believe me, I can make sure you won’t be able to stay in

Emerald City!”

As soon as Jasper, a little girl, spoke, the other person’s face was filled with mockery and contempt.

“Little girl, are you talking big? How are you going to make me unable to stay in Emerald City? I’m really looking forward to it…”

The upward inflection in their tone revealed their frivolousness.

Jasper frowned and was about to speak again, but Roger spoke up, “Her father is Jason, the chairman of the Emerald City Reed Group, and her mother is Grace, a famous lawyer in Emerald City. Do you think she has the ability to make you unable to stay in Emerald City?”

Upon hearing this, the thugs’ eyes widened in disbelief.

The thug who had previously spoken with Jasper even gasped and his face became extremely ugly. In the end, he slinked away in embarrassment.

Roger looked at her and suddenly asked, “Did you call the police?”

She was taken aback and then looked a bit embarrassed.

“Um…I didn’t know you could easily take down those guys. If I had known you were so capable, I wouldn’t have called the police.”

“Then why did you help me just now? And why did you say those harsh words to them?” he continued to ask. “Is it because of my face?”

She stared at his handsome face in front of her, even though he didn’t seem to have suffered any injuries from the fight earlier. He still looked good.

If you didn’t see it with your own eyes, who would believe the brawl that happened in the alleyway earlier?

“No,” she answered him, “I’m helping you not because of your face. Even if you didn’t look anything like

Lawrence, I would still help.”

His eyes flickered slightly. “Why?”

“Because I don’t want to see someone being bullied. I don’t want to see it and turn a blind eye, not help those people.” Jasper spoke, feeling a bit uneasy as she touched her nose under his gaze. “Although I know that saying these things might make me sound ‘fake’, and even if I want to help others, it’s not just me, but the Reed family.

But…if I see it, I will still do it.”

Because she didn’t want Lawrence’s situation to happen again.

If someone had reached out to help Lawrence when he had his accident, would everything be different now?

Roger didn’t say anything else, he just turned around and walked out of the police station.

“Hey, wait up!” Jasper hurried to catch up and left the police station with Roger.

As soon as they left the police station, a taxi passed by. Jasper quickly hailed it and pulled Roger’s hand to get in the taxi.

“Stanford University!” Jasper told the taxi driver the address.

“Have you had enough?” Roger’s voice echoed in the carriage.

Only then did Jasper realize that she had been holding onto his hand.

“Sorry.” She quickly let go of his hand, but there was a sticky feeling between her fingers.

Jasper lowered her head in confusion and looked at her fingertips.

There was a touch of crimson on her fair skin… was it blood?

On her fair skin, there was a touch of crimson. Is it… blood?

But she wasn’t injured! That means… it’s Roger’s blood?

Jasper quickly grabbed Roger’s forearm and looked at his hand. “You’re hurt!”

It wasn’t a question, but a statement. There were some wounds on his hand, some places where the skin was broken and blood was oozing out.

“It’s just a minor injury,” Roger said nonchalantly.

Jasper frowned and after a moment, he turned to the taxi driver in the front seat and said, “Excuse me, sir. If you happen to see a pharmacy along the way, could you please pull over so I can buy some medicine?”

“Sure thing!” the driver replied.

“I told you, it’s just a minor injury. You don’t have to go through all this trouble,” Roger said casually.

“If a minor injury isn’t properly treated, it can still become infected,” Jasper said sternly. “Anyway, you wait in the car for me. I’ll buy the medicine quickly!”

After a moment, the car stopped in front of a pharmacy along the road.

Jasper got out of the car and hurried towards the pharmacy.

Roger watched the figure rushing into the pharmacy through the car window, feeling an inexplicable surge in his heart.

“Young man, your girlfriend is really good to you!” the driver in the front seat spoke up.

“She’s not my girlfriend,” Roger replied in a indifferent tone.

“Even if she’s not your girlfriend, she must be interested in you. Look how nervous she gets around you. As soon as she found out you were hurt, she rushed to the pharmacy to buy medicine,” the driver said.

Roger pursed his lips and remained silent.

“This girl is really good. You should cherish her and not miss out on her. You’ll regret it in the future,”

the driver’s voice rang out again.

Roger’s eyes flickered. Regret? How could he possibly regret it?

Just then, Jasper had already bought the medicine and ran back.

After getting on the car, she raised her hand to hold his hand.

“No need, I can manage on my own,” he said.

“You have only one hand, it’s not convenient. Let me help you apply the medicine,” she insisted, taking his hand and wiping off the bloodstains with a tissue. Then she disinfected the wound with iodine and applied some ointment.

Her movements were gentle and careful, as if she was afraid of hurting him.

Roger furrowed his brows slightly and looked at the wound on his hand that she had already treated.

For him, this kind of injury is indeed considered a minor one. There was a time when he was tortured to the point of being unrecognizable, and the various injuries on his body made him feel like he was no longer human!

“You take this ointment back with you, apply it twice a day, don’t forget!” She said, stuffing the ointment into his arms.

The car arrived at the entrance of Stanford University, and the two got out and walked into the campus.

Roger pursed his lips and finally said somewhat reluctantly, “Anyway, thanks for today.”

“You’re welcome.” She smiled brightly.

After he left, she was about to head to her own dorm room when suddenly she remembered something. She opened her hand and saw the tissue she had used to wipe away his bloodstains.

It was a tissue stained with his blood.

This could also be used as a DNA sample for testing!

Last time, she had tried so hard to get a DNA sample with his saliva, but she ended up with nothing.

However, she didn’t even think about getting a DNA sample when she was treating his wounds and applying medicine just now. But now, she had a tissue stained with his blood in her hand.
