“That’s because in this world, there are some things that can’t be obtained just by pursuing them,”

William said. Just like him, he was uncertain about whether he could truly be with her in the future.

“So…William, if we ever have an argument in the future, would you choose to hypnotize and forget our feelings for each other?” Jasper asked abruptly.

She was afraid that one day he would make the same choice as Mason.

“No, I wouldn’t,” William paused his steps and looked at Jasper walking beside him. “Even if we argue, no matter how angry or sad I am, I would never make that kind of choice.”

“Really?” Her eyes lit up.

“Yes,” he said, because he couldn’t bear to give up the feelings he had for her. Even if it would be painful in the future, he would rather keep this feeling.

“Then let’s shake on it!” Jasper immediately said.

William was taken aback and before he could react, Jasper had already taken his hand and hooked her pinky finger with his. She said, “Pinky promise, no take backs. If you break it, you’re a little dog!”

He couldn’t help but laugh as he listened to her childish words, “Okay, if I change my mind, I’ll be a puppy.”

Jasper was finally satisfied, and a content expression appeared on his face. However, her peripheral vision unintentionally glanced past him and towards his back.

Suddenly, her expression changed and she lifted her foot, rushing towards his back.

The incident happened suddenly. In the blink of an eye, Jasper had already run in the opposite direction, and William instinctively chased after her.

After a few steps, he caught up with Jasper and grabbed her, asking, “What’s wrong?”

“Let go of me!” Jasper shouted urgently, struggling to break free from William’s grip and continuing to run forward.

William felt his hand empty, but at this moment, he didn’t care about anything else and instinctively ran after Jasper.

Jasper ran for a while before stopping, gasping for breath. He looked around urgently, as if searching for something.

“What are you looking for?” William ran up to Jasper and asked.

“Just now…I think I saw Lawrence,” Jasper murmured.

But when the word “Lawrence” came out of Jasper’s mouth, William was suddenly shocked. A strong sense of unease spread through his body. “You saw Lawrence?”

“Yeah, he was just behind you not far away,” Jasper said, pursing his lips and recalling the scene he had just seen. “That person…should be Lawrence, although he has grown taller, but I shouldn’t be mistaken.”

“It’s been several years, so my appearance should have changed quite a bit. Maybe you mistook me for someone else earlier,” William said.

Jasper bit her lip.

Did she make a mistake? Lawrence, the Lawrence she remembered, was from when they were both 10 years old. It had been several years since then, so Lawrence’s appearance could have changed.

Although the person earlier looked like the Lawrence she imagined growing up, who knows what

Lawrence looks like now?

“Maybe I really did make a mistake,” Jasper said with a dim look in her eyes. “If Lawrence really appeared, he should have come to me and asked me why I didn’t answer that call and why I couldn’t save his parents.”

He looked at her remorseful expression and gently stroked her head, “Okay, stop blaming yourself.

This isn’t your fault.”

Jasper gave a bitter smile, “Everyone says it’s not my fault, but… is it really not my fault? If I had answered that phone call back then, maybe some things could have been different.”

“Don’t overthink it. Your parents are probably looking for us now. Don’t make them worry,” William said, taking Jasper’s hand and leading him towards the exit.

After they left, a figure slowly walked out from a hidden corner, their gaze heavy as they watched the two figures leave.

“Young master, we need to leave now, or we’ll miss the flight,”

someone reminded him.

“Alright,” Lawrence replied, but he headed towards the side door. “Those kidnappers who were sentenced today, don’t let them have an easy time in prison.”

“Yes, I understand what to do,” his subordinate replied.

When they arrived at the side door, a black car was waiting outside. Lawrence got in and slowly closed his eyes.

In the end, he couldn’t resist and approached, letting Jasper see him.

The two of them found a noodle shop. The shop had a small storefront and the decor was quite old, but there were still pter 3530

many people inside and the business was good.

Roger found a seat and Jasper sat down with him. However, when it came to choosing what type of noodles to order, she just stared blankly at the menu,

“What’s wrong? Don’t you want to eat noodles here? Do you think the environment is too poor? The food is too simple?” Roger mocked.

She looked up at him and asked, “Do you hate me?”

“What do you mean?” he asked in return.

Jasper returned to the Reed House, but the face and figure she saw at the court today kept flashing in her mind repeatedly.

Was that person really not Lawrence?

Or did she see it wrong?

If it was really Lawrence, he would definitely come to her and ask why she didn’t answer his calls back then.

Moreover, if Lawrence was really in Emerald City, so close to her, the people her father sent to find him should have noticed it too.

Over the years, even though the police have stopped searching for Lawrence, the Reed family never gave up.

Thinking about this, Jasper suddenly threw off his thin blanket, got out of bed, and opened the bedroom door.

But as soon as he opened the door, he bumped into William who was about to knock.

“William?” Jasper looked at him in surprise. “Are you looking for me?”

“Just wanted to see if you were asleep,” William said. He had come to Emerald City for the trial of the kidnapping case and was temporarily staying with the Reed family. “Can’t sleep?”

“Well, there’s something I want to talk to my parents about,” Jasper said.

William’s eyes flickered slightly. “Do you want to tell them about seeing Lawrence at the courthouse today?”

Jasper wasn’t too surprised that William had guessed what she was thinking. After all, they had known each other for so many years, and he always seemed to easily figure out what she was thinking.

“Yes, regardless of whether or not the person I saw was actually Lawrence, I still hope my dad can help me investigate,” Jasper said.

At this moment, her father should still be in his study.

As Jasper was about to head towards the study, William suddenly grabbed her wrist. “Are you still unable to let go of Lawrence? We already discussed this afternoon that you must have mistaken someone else for him. It couldn’t have been

Lawrence.”

Jasper gave a bitter smile. “Can I really let go? I had the chance to save Lawrence back then, but instead, I caused him to disappear! And his parents…”

“Stop,” William interrupted. “How long will you continue to blame yourself for this? You were only a child back then. None of this was your fault.”

“But for the Lawrence back then, I was his only hope,” Jasper murmured. “Regardless of whether I was mistaken this time or not, I want to find out the truth.”

With that, Jasper pulled her hand away from William’s grip and walked towards the study.

William stood still, staring at Jasper’s departing figure in a daze.

The weight of Lawrence in her heart has not diminished with the passage of time, but has instead grown heavier.

But was the person she saw today really Lawrence?

If Lawrence is really found, how will Jasper treat him? And what kind of existence will he become in

Jasper’s heart?

In the future, everything is unknown.

But this unknown makes him both excited and scared!

Jasper arrived at the study where Jason was looking at company documents. When he saw his daughter, he smiled and asked, “What’s up? Shouldn’t you be sleeping at this time?”

“Dad, I don’t know if the person I saw in court today was Lawrence, so I want you to help me check,”

Jasper said straightforwardly.

“Lawrence?” Jason raised an eyebrow, seeming a bit

Jasper recounted to his father the events before and after he saw that figure in the courthouse today.

“Okay, I’ll look into it,” Jason said. “But if that person really is Lawrence, what do you plan to do?”

Jasper blinked his eyes. “Of course, I’ll apologize to him. I should have answered that phone call at the time.”

“And then?” Jason asked.

“And then…I’ll be good to him. I’ll treat him very well. If he needs any help, I’ll do everything I can to assist him.”

“So what if he doesn’t forgive you? What if he blames everything on you? What are you going to do?”

Jason asked again.

Jasper’s face fell. “It was my fault to begin with, so even if he doesn’t forgive me…it’s normal. I’ll try my best to make it up to him.”

Seeing his daughter like this, Jason stood up and walked over to her, pulling her into his arms. “You’re my daughter, Jasper. You don’t need to beg anyone for forgiveness. You also need to understand that if he really blames you, it just shows that he can’t distinguish right from wrong. You’ve done enough with what happened back then and the Reed family’s search over the years.”

Jasper leaned into her father’s embrace. Is it enough? But she still felt like there was so much more she needed to do.

“Dad, do you think Lawrence will hate me?” she asked, her voice choked with emotion.

“I don’t think so. Weren’t you guys good friends before? He won’t blame you for it. Just now, I was just talking casually,”

said Jason. However, a hint of worry flashed in his eyes.

Grace found out about her daughter’s possible encounter with Lawrence in court on the second day.

“Could it be Lawrence?” Grace asked her husband.
