Martin.
“I will balance it well, Valda is the person I will spend my life with!” Therefore, in the future, he will definitely fall in love with Valda, he definitely will!
“I hope you can really do that,” said Martin. “But I used to think that even if you were to get married in this lifetime, you would probably only find someone who matches your family background, just to continue the family line. I never thought you would find a woman like Valda.”
He never expected it. Brian thought to himself that it was just a sudden impulse, but it turned into such a fate.
Perhaps it was finally God’s mercy that sent Valda to his side.
Kula bad really broken up like same words.
“Yeah, we’re together again.” But how much of it is true love, and how much of it is just pretending?
Martin looked up and gazed at Kyla’s back, lost in thought…
When they arrived at the exhibition hall, Valda finally saw Nelson’s painting.
At the child’s age, being able to draw such a picture truly surprised Valda. She thought that if Nelson didn’t aspire to become a lawyer, he could have been a good artist.
So Valda praised Nelson again, complimenting him so much that he blushed.
After finishing the art exhibition, the five of them went to the restaurant in the amusement park to have an afternoon tea together.
Two men took Nelson to get some food while Kyla and Valda sat at the table waiting.
“Are you and Brian really together now?” Kyla hesitated and asked.
“Mhmm,” Valda nodded in agreement.
“Do you mind about Grace’s matter?”
“If someone says they don’t mind at all, that’s not true, but I understand that there’s nothing wrong with loving someone. Grace is not wrong, and neither is Brian,” Valda said, looking up and her gaze fell on
Brian who was holding his meal not far away. “I love Brian, and although his feelings for me are only like at the moment, I think maybe someday he will fall in love with me too.”
Although Kyla doesn’t want to rain on Valda’s parade, she’s afraid that this woman in front of her might suffer even greater harm in the future.
After all, on the day Grace gave birth, she was also at the hospital.
She heard what Brian said at the time and saw Valda’s reaction when she heard those words.
“What if that day never happened?” Kyla asked. “Do you really think he would have fallen in love with you?”
“At least he and I are both working towards this goal,” said Valda.
“But Valda, feelings can’t just be forced to bloom through effort alone! If it were that easy to make someone fall in love with another person just by trying hard, then there wouldn’t be so many unrequited loves in this world,” Kyla said.
“I know that not everything can be achieved just by working hard, but if you don’t try, you won’t get any results,” Valda said with a slight smile to Kyla. “Kyla, I am fully aware of what I am doing and the risks and consequences involved. However, I still want to give it a try. I am betting that man will fall in love with me!”
Kyla looked at Valda’s smiling face with a sense of bewilderment.
It was a smile full of hope for the future, a smile that believed in eventually finding happiness.
At this moment, she seemed to see her former self, who used to always wear such a smile.
But there was a time when this kind of smile no longer appeared on her face.
Valda is brave, at least she knows what she wants and works hard to achieve it!
“So I wish you success!” said Kyla, all she could offer now was her blessing.
“Thank you,” said Valda.
A moment later, Brian, Martin, and Nelson returned with their meals.
Five people sat around the table and began to enjoy their afternoon tea.
Valda took a sip of coffee but frowned, “It’s so bitter.”
“Not added the cream and sugar yet,” said Brian, as he picked up the creamer and yellow sugar from the side and poured them into the coffee cup in front of Valda. He then used a small spoon to gently stir it for a moment before lifting the coffee cup to Valda’s lips. “Try it now, is it still bitter?”
Valda took a small sip and said, “It’s still a bit bitter.” But it’s much better than before.
So Brian poured some more brown sugar and held up his coffee cup for Valda to taste again, saying
“How about now?”
“It’s alright, not too bitter,” said Valda.
Brian then placed the cake and spoon in front of her before preparing his own meal.
Kyla watched from the side and suddenly felt that maybe Valda could really succeed.
At this moment, Brian’s gentle and considerate behavior towards
Valda is not an act, but a natural and genuine gesture. When a man is gentle and considerate towards a woman without any ulterior motives, it can only mean that he genuinely cares for her and has feelings for her in his heart.
Valda looked at Brian who didn’t add anything to his coffee and drank it as it is. She couldn’t help but ask, “Don’t you find it bitter?”
“Fortunately, I usually drink coffee and I’m used to not adding anything,” said Brian.
Valda was speechless.
Nelson looked at Valda and Brian and suddenly asked, “Auntie Valda, Uncle Brian, when are you getting married?”
Upon hearing this question, Valda almost spewed out the coffee
“Are you two not on a date today? When a man and a woman go on a date, don’t they plan on getting married in the future?” Nelson asked strangely.
Valda was surprised and asked curiously, “How did you know we were on a date?” She didn’t seem to have mentioned the word “date” from beginning to end, did she?
“Are you not on a date? On TV, a man and a woman at an amusement park seem to be on a date,”
said Nelson.
Valda is sweating profusely. Well, she underestimated the children a bit.
“When are you two getting married? If possible, please let me know half a year in advance, because if I want to buy you a wedding gift, I need to save some money to buy it,” said Nelson seriously.
Valda hesitated and said, “Um…we haven’t yet…”
“Okay,” Brian interrupted Valda and said to Nelson, “I will notify you six months in advance.”
“Okay then.” Nelson lowered his head and resumed eating his cake.
Valda didn’t know what to say, so she awkwardly changed the subject and asked Kyla, “Um… how much allowance do you give Nelson each month?”
“About 200, so he can buy some small things he likes. But he’s thrifty, so he usually has some left over at the end of the month,” Kyla replied.
200 a month seemed like an average amount for a fifth-grade student.
Who would have thought that the child of a chairman of such a large corporation like Martin would only get 200 as allowance?!
After leaving the amusement park, the two groups said goodbye and got into their respective cars.
Valda said, “I didn’t expect to see Kyla and them today. Kyla and her husband seem to have a good relationship, but her husband doesn’t seem to talk much.”
Valda wasn’t familiar with Martin and had limited knowledge of him. The first time she heard of him was when there were rumors online about Martin and Kyla getting divorced and Martin having an affair with another nurse.
At that time, she thought Kyla’s marriage was in trouble.
But now, it seems like everything is fine.
“Sometimes, others may not be able to tell whether emotions are good or bad,” Brian said suddenly.
“Does this mean that their relationship isn’t good now?” Valda asked in surprise.
“That’s something only they know,” said Brian. “But I’m not interested in their business. Valda, if you have some free time, why don’t you think about us instead?”
“What’s between us?” Valda blinked her eyes, looking confused.
“Now that we’re back together, when do you plan on meeting my parents?” Brian asked. “Otherwise, they might keep trying to find someone for me to marry and have children with.”
Valda was stunned for a moment. It was only right to meet his parents, but she couldn’t help feeling nervous and worried.
“What’s wrong? Are you afraid to see them?” Brian asked. “You already met them once at the hospital before, so why be afraid?”
“I’m just worried about what if they’re not satisfied with me?” Valda said. Sometimes, she felt insecure because they were like two people from different worlds. Someone like him, who was a prodigy, should have been matched with those high-born ladies. However, she was just an orphan girl with no parents.
“That is, unless they want their son to never get married or have children in his lifetime,” said Brian.
“I’m serious,” she muttered, thinking he was joking with her.
“I’m serious too,” Brian said. “They will only like you and not be dissatisfied with you.”
But she still looked worried.
He touched her head. “Valda, you should have more confidence in yourself. You are not inferior to anyone. Besides, you are the woman I like. If you think you are not good enough, does that mean my taste is bad?”

“You are the woman I like, so my parents must like you too. I could tell from the hospital last time. They probably can’t wait for you to become the Hart family’s daughter-in-law.”
“Really?” Valda looked skeptical.
“You’ll know if it’s true when you meet them,” Brian smiled. “Okay, if you’re willing to meet them, I’ll arrange a time.”
“What if I don’t want to?” She bit her lip.
“Then we’ll make them wait a little longer,” he said. Her wishes were important to him, and he wouldn’t force her if she didn’t want to.
“Well…let’s meet then,” Valda took a deep breath and made up her mind. After all, they were her parents, and she had to meet them eventually.
Moreover, the feeling of having met before in the hospital last time was also okay.
His parents are not as lofty as she had originally imagined, but rather quite approachable.
“Then I’ll arrange my schedule when the time comes,” said Brian.
