“It’s not a bother,” she quickly said, taking an apple from the fruit basket and washing it before slowly peeling it with a small fruit knife.

However, her peeling skills were limited, and she couldn’t peel the apple skin continuously. When she finished peeling the apple, it looked a bit ugly.

Volda Theller said awkwardly.

“It’s okay,” he said, taking the apple from her and eating it slowly.

Valda Theller sat quietly beside him, watching Brian Hart. He seemed to have lost some weight and his complexion was paler than before.

He said he was willing to get hurt for her. He said she couldn’t move, but that was a lie.

How could she not move when a man she loved was hurt for her? How could her heart not be moved?

But in addition to being touched, there was always a voice reminding her that he truly loved Grace! So she was cautious and didn’t want to let her emotions run wild.

If there is a chance in the future, she will definitely repay him for his life-saving kindness.

Gorgeous Wife is an Ex-Convict!

“What’s wrong? You’ve been staring at me.” Brian Hart’s voice suddenly rang out.

“I was just thinking about how I should repay you for saving my life,” she murmured.

His pitch-black eyes fixed on her, “Valda Theller, you don’t need to repay me for anything, nor have I ever thought about you repaying me.”

“Whether you want me to repay you or not is up to you, but it’s my responsibility to do so,” she replied.

“What do you want to repay me with? Money? Gifts? Or perhaps, your body?” he retorted.

She blushed and didn’t know what to say.

“Anyway, Valda Theller, to be honest, I didn’t think too much when

I saved you. By the time I realized it, the knife was already in your body. It was just my instinct to save you. So you don’t need to feel guilty or blame yourself.”

“Regardless, if we ever encounter any danger in the future, I will protect you and risk my life to do so,” she said seriously.

He looked at her earnest little face, as if she was always serious about everything.

“Are you planning on encountering danger again in the future?”

he asked.

“Huh?” She realized her words were inappropriate and awkwardly bit her lip. “Well…um, forget what I said. We won’t encounter any danger in the future, we’ll be safe and sound!”

Her embarrassed expression was adorable, and Brian Hart couldn’t help but smile. With her around, his mood always seemed to improve.

Just then, a nurse came to change Brian Hart’s bandages.

Valda Theller trembled and held her breath as she watched the nurse remove the gauze and reveal the eleven stitches on his wound.

Every time she saw his wound, she felt like she couldn’t breathe.

Brian Hart’s face remained expressionless as the nurse changed his bandages, but Valda Theller’s face twisted in pain.

After the nurse finished, she finally let out a sigh of relief.

“If someone didn’t know any better, they would think you were the one injured. When the nurse was changing your bandages, your expression looked like you were in so much pain that I thought you were going to scream,” Brian Hart joked.

“Because it really looked like it hurt,” Valda Theller said, looking at Brian Hart’s calm expression. “You…

you’re not really in pain?”

“It doesn’t hurt,” he said. “So you don’t need to worry.”

“With such a long wound, I don’t know if it will leave a scar in the future,” she muttered.

“Even if there is a scar, it doesn’t matter,” he said. “I am a man, and I don’t care about having a few scars on my body. But if you don’t like it, I can do scar removal treatment later.”

She was taken aback. He seemed to be trying to cater to her preferences.

Cater? Valda Theller quickly shook her head. What was she thinking? “The nurse just said you have two other pills to take after changing your medicine. You…you should take the pills first.”

As she spoke, she quickly picked up the two pills that the nurse had left on the bedside table, measured out the dosage, poured a glass of warm water, and handed it to Brian Hart.

Brian Hart took the pills, mixed them with water, and swallowed them.

“Valda Theller, if you feel uncomfortable here, you can go back. There are doctors, nurses, caregivers, and enough people to take care of me,” he said.

She hesitated, and he could tell she was uncomfortable!

take care of you,” she quickly said,

A hint of sadness flashed in his eyes. Responsibility? She stayed here not just because of responsibility, but for other reasons too!

Well, Brian Hart, what are you still fantasizing about? He silently said to himself.

Because of the medicine, Brian Hart soon fell asleep, and Valda

Theller silently watched him sleep.

Even when he was asleep, he seemed fragile, and his pale face made her heart ache.

Was she really just staying in the hospital to take care of him out of a sense of responsibility? No, she knew it was more than that.

She wanted to take care of him personally and do things that she could do to help him, even though…

any caregiver could do those things. But she still wanted to do them herself!

Valda Theller stared at Brian Hart for a long time until the door of the ward was pushed open, and a figure walked in, snapping her out of her thoughts.

But when she turned her head, the person who came in was

Patrick Weiss, a friend of Brian Hart whom she had met before.

“You…you’re here to see Brian Hart, right? He’s asleep and may not wake up for a while,” Valda Theller said.

Patrick Welss looked at Valda Theller. “I heard from Brian Hart’s men outside that you’ve been taking care of Brian Hart here for the past two days. You’ve worked hard.”

“He was injured to save me, so it’s only right that I take care of him,” she quickly said.

“How is his injury?” Patrick Weiss asked. He had only learned about his friend’s hospitalization from Mr.

Hart and Madam Hart, and had rushed to the hospital.

“He was stabbed in the waist and abdomen and had eleven stitches. Fortunately, he didn’t hit any vital organs. The doctor asked him to stay in the hospital for observation. If there are no problems, he can be discharged in a few days,” Valda Theller said.

Patrick Weiss muttered, “Hmm…it seems he really cares about you. He was willing to make a heroic move to save you. If it were me in danger, he would probably just look on coldly.”

Valda Theller, who had been saved like a damsel in distress, felt a little embarrassed. “He…he would save you too. You’re his friend, he…”

“Okay, I know his personality,” Patrick Weiss shrugged. “He’s always very indifferent to people and things, except for the people he cares about. It was Grace back then, and now it’s…”

Patrick Weiss’s voice faltered, and now it was him who was feeling embarrassed. “Haha… Grace, I hope you don’t mind,” he chuckled nervously.

“It’s okay, I actually already knew,” Valda Theller’s eyelashes fluttered as she lowered her gaze. “I know that Brian Hart loves Grace, and has loved her for many years. If Grace hadn’t married Jason Reed, then maybe Brian Hart would already be with her now.”

“He’s just too stubborn when it comes to love. Once he’s made up his mind, he’ll stick to it,” Patrick

Weiss said.

Valda Theller’s face showed a bitter smile. Of course, but it was precisely his deep affection and stubbornness that made her unknowingly fall in love with Brian Hart while admiring Grace.

“But,” Patrick Weiss’s tone changed, “you are the exception to his stubbornness in love all these years.”

“Exception?” She was puzzled.

Patrick Weiss said, “I’ve been friends with him for many years and have seen all the women who have come and gone in his life, but I’ve never seen him make an exception for anyone. It was because of his childhood encounter with Grace that he has been looking for her ever since they lost contact. His previous girlfriends were abled Grace in

Substitutes? Valda Theller’s eyes flickered.

“He is both deeply affectionate and ruthless. For those he doesn’t care about, even if you die in front of him, he will remain indifferent. Grace is the one who led him into a dead end, but you are the one who is slowly pulling him out of it,” Patrick Weiss said, looking at Valda Theller.

Valda Theller said bitterly, “You think too highly of me.”

“It’s not about whether I think highly of you or not, it’s the truth. For so many years, you are the only woman who can make him laugh and feel sad. He will be restless for you, happy because of your phone call, and even get drunk because of breaking up with you, and even hug me and talk nonsense,”

Martin Weiss sighed. “All of these things, can’t they prove something? Even your appearance has nothing to do with Grace. Even if he considers you a substitute for Grace, this reason cannot hold. In my opinion, his feelings for you may be far more than he thinks. Valda Theller, can’t you be with Brian

Hart?”

“I…,” Valda Theller bit her lip. “I broke up with him because… I feel like I can never replace Grace in his heart. In the future, he will definitely find someone he can truly love, but that’s not something

I can do.”

She had tried her best, but the result was still a failure. An accident, his turning away, was enough to prove it!

“Do you really think you can never replace her?” Patrick Weiss asked. “Then let me ask you, how long have you known Brian do you know that Brian Hart has loved

Valda Theller was stunned.

“You’ve only known Brian Hart for less than a year, but Brian Hart’s feelings for Grace have been more than 20 years. In less than a year, you have already made Brian Hart care so much about you. So if time goes on, do you still think you can’t replace her? I don’t think so!”

My Gorgeous Wife is an Ex-Convic!!

Valda Theller was lost in thought, wondering if it was possible for her to replace Grace in Brian Hart’s heart if given enough time.

“If you believe that Brian Hart cannot fall in love with you, then how long do you think it will take for him to find someone he truly loves? After being rejected by Grace, it took him so many years to find you. So now, after you reject him, how long will it take for him to find the person you speak of? Ten years? Twenty years? Or will he never find them? Valda Theller, how many years do you think you have left in your life?” Patrick Weiss’s words felt like heavy stones pressing on Valda Theller’s chest, making it hard for her to breathe.

“Valda Theller, I still believe that you are the only one who can pull Brian Hart out of his despair, and he is the person you cannot afford to miss in your life. If you miss him because of your own arrogance, I bet you will regret it for the rest of your life!” Patrick

Weiss said with conviction.

Valda Theller’s gaze fell on Brian Hart, who was still sleeping on the hospital bed, and she remained silent for a long time.

When Brian Hart woke up, he only saw Patrick Weiss in his hospital room, but not Valda Theller.

“Where is Valda Theller?” he asked.

Brian Hart’s eyelashes trembled slightly, and his phoenix eyes lowered. She went back… it was only natural for her to leave after taking care of him for two days. Besides, he didn’t want her to stay just out of a sense of duty, did he?
