A nurse carried out a small baby girl and held her in front of Jason to look.
Jason looked at the baby in front of him. Vernix still covered her red body.
‘This is the baby Grace tried so hard to give birth to…’
Jason took the baby from the nurse.
“Jason, is this what you wanted? You put Grace in danger for a baby. You put her life on the line. She might even have to go to the operating table again!” Brian’s voice rang out suddenly.
The sight of the baby girl stung his eyes.
Jason looked up at him. “Brian, this is my and Grace’s decision. Who are you to say that to me?”
“Would Grace be pregnant if it weren’t for you? Didn’t you say you value her more than your own life?
Is putting her through all this pain how you value her?” snapped Brian.
Jason’s face darkened. “Brian, what’s the matter? Haven’t you given up on Grace?”
He suddenly sneered. “Give up? Jason, if you hadn’t interfered, how could I have mistaken someone else for Grace and recognized her so late? If I had recognized her sooner and if she had fallen for me, I would never have let her suffer what she suffered today!”
Valda Theller never expected that the first thing she heard was Brian’s speech when she arrived at the hospital and passed the place guarded by the Reed family’s bodyguards.
Maybe everything was meant to be.
She heard those words because the Reed family’s bodyguards recognized her and let her in.
Sure enough, Brian loved Grace. He loved her before and still did.
Losing Grace was the biggest regret of his life. Who was she for him to transfer such deep feelings to her?
She laughed at what she had said about trying hard to make him love her.
“Valda, what are you doing here?” The first person to notice Valda Theller was Kyla.
When Kyla said that, the two men still in dispute froze.
Brian’s expression instantly changed, and he stiffened. He turned slowly and looked at Valda Theller not far away.
She no longer looked as distraught as she was at the comic fiesta venue. She had probably cleaned up as she had even changed her clothes.
Her expression was calm. She looked at him quietly but not with the usual smile.
Brian only felt guilty when he met Valda Theller’s gaze.
He saw her being mobbed at the comic fiesta. He wanted to help her but suddenly received a call from his staff. He was told on the phone that Grace was urgently rushed to the hospital, and her situation looked critical.
His mind went blank at that moment. When he realized it, he turned and ran out of the place.
“What are you doing here? I… I asked my staff to help you at the venue. Did you meet them?” Brian asked. Even he did not notice his voice was unnatural as he spoke.
“I was on the phone with Kyla earlier and knew Grace was sent to the hospital, so I came to take a look,” said Valda Theller as she looked past Brian and saw the baby Jason was holding.
She walked up to Jason. “Is this Grace’s baby? It’s great that the baby was born safely.”
“But she still has to go to the NICU for observation,” Jason said as he handed the baby to a nurse next to him. The nurse took the baby and left, followed by Jason’s bodyguard.
At 37 weeks, the baby’s organs were fully developed, but it was important to keep an eye on her for a few days to be safe.
“What about Grace? Is she okay?” Valda Theller asked with concern. “I’m not sure. We’ll see how Grace recovers after giving birth,” said Jason.
Valda Theller nodded. “I’ll wait for Grace to come out first. I’ll leave after checking on her.”
“Okay,” replied Jason.
Brian stood at the side, looking at Valda Theller. He wanted to speak but hesitated.
when Valda Theller only looked straight at the operating room door without glancing at Brian.
When Grace was wheeled out of the operating room, she was still in a coma because of the anesthetic. Valda Theller accompanied her to the ward. Envy flickered in her eyes when she saw Jason guarding the hospital bed.
Everyone in Emerald City knew Young master Reed.
Rumor had it that Young master Reed was cold and heartless, but he loved his wife very much.
Having requited love was something many people were after but failed to get. For example… her.
“Kyla, I’ll go back first,” Valda Theller said to Kyla nearby.
Kyla said, “I’ll go back with you and come back tomorrow to see Grace.”
Therefore, they bade Jason goodbye and walked out of the ward.
However, Valda Theller stopped as soon as she left the ward. Brian was standing in the corridor not far away, looking straight at her.
Valda Theller pressed her lips slightly, turned to Kyla, and said, “Kyla, go ahead first. I have something to say to Brian.”
Kyla felt uneasy. After all, Valda was too calm.
Any woman would be devastated to hear her boyfriend care so much about the person he once liked.
However, there was no anger or sadness on Valda’s face. All it had was… calmness.
Such calmness made Kyla feel like a storm was coming.
“Valda, are you okay?” Kyla asked.
“I’m fine. Don’t worry,” said Valda Theller.
Kyla hesitated and left. After all, it was between Valda and Brian.
A stranger like her could not interfere.
Brian and Valda Theller were the only two left in the corridor.
Valda Theller walked up to Brian. “Grace’s still in a coma because her anesthesia hasn’t worn off.”
Brian frowned slightly. “I didn’t ask that.” “I thought you wanted to know,” she said.
He said suddenly, “I’m sorry! I know I shouldn’t have done that today.”
Valda Theller’s eyelashes quivered slightly before she looked down. “What are you referring to? Do you mean you shouldn’t have walked away when you saw me getting mobbed? Or do you mean you shouldn’t have said the things outside the operating room?”
Brian was flabbergasted. He felt embarrassed as he had no idea how to answer her question.
“You did nothing wrong. I know you love Grace, not me.” Valda Theller laughed at herself. “I know you must have left the comic fiesta so quickly because you got a call that Grace is in critical condition.
Besides, you said that outside the operating room because you love Grace and were worried about her.”
She said it all in a plain tone.
It was clear that she was not blaming him, but he would have preferred her to blame him and lose her temper rather than be so calm. It made him worried.
“Valda, you can blame me,” said Brian.
“I don’t blame you,” she said.
He looked at her with an inquisitive look. EX- Convict She smiled faintly. “Really, I don’t blame you because you never lied to me.” She knew since the beginning that he had another woman in his heart.
He had also clarified that he did not love her when they started dating.
In that case, how could she expect him to run to her first when she and Grace were both in trouble?
