He had wanted to divorce Kyla, but she was unwilling to end their relationship. However, he suddenly became reluctant when she tried to end it.
If he signed that agreement, they would have had nothing to do with each other except for their relationship with the children!
“I’ve spoken with Kyla. I asked her to stay in L City for some time to give the public the illusion that you’re a loving couple. You can divorce in another year or so,” said Mrs. Weiss.
Martin Weiss rejected and said, “No thanks! If we want to create an illusion, it’ll work the same if I go to Emerald City.”
“You’re going to Emerald City?” Mrs. Weiss was shocked. Then, she immediately replied, “No, you’re not in the right shape to go to Emerald City.”
“What right shape? Didn’t Kyla come here from Emerald City before? She had a liver transplant after giving birth. Speaking of which, she’s in worse shape than I am!” Martin Weiss said.
He was stunned after saying that. ‘Yeah, she’s in worse shape than I am. But I have doctors and nurses around to take care of me, but she doesn’t. She never asked for anyone to look after her during her time at my mansion either.”
Martin Weiss only felt a pain in his heart when he thought of it.
‘Kyla. Why does she keep causing me pain? She had already made me miserable before the hypnosis.
‘After the hypnosis, she’s still continuing to cause me pain.
‘Or is it true that I still love Kyla as Shana Nicholls said?
‘No matter what I do, will I always fall for Kyla… Am I going to love that woman again with no way of escaping?
Although Grace had been staying at home to take care of her unborn baby as per the doctor’s orders, she still learned about Kyla’s press conference. She also hurriedly called Kyla.
Kyla was afraid that Grace would have mood swings again because of her, so she hurried to the Reed family’s house to visit Grace and tell her about her deal with Mrs. Weiss.
“I only said that at the press conference to dispel the rumors as soon as possible. Weiss Group’s share price had dropped due to those rumors, causing a lot of losses. It’s more effective for me to say those things instead of Martin Weiss or to have Weiss Group release a statement,” said Kyla.
Grace said with concern, “So you and Martin Weiss…”
“We’ll pretend to be a loving couple for a while. We’ll find another excuse to announce our divorce once this is over,” Kyla said before smiling. “Alright, don’t worry about me. Whether it’s pretending to be a loving couple with Martin Weiss or divorcing Martin Weiss is my own choice. No one forced me. I wanted to do it.”
“Are you sure?” Grace asked.
Kyla’s gaze softened. “I love him. I don’t want Weiss Group, which he has worked so hard to build, to suffer any more losses, so I’m willing to pretend to be a loving couple with him. However, I’m also willing to divorce him and set him free because he doesn’t love me back.”
Her tone was calm when she spoke. Their love and hatred had turned into peace again.
Perhaps it was the best outcome for her and Martin Weiss.
“By the way, have you seen the news about Brian and Valda?”
Kyla asked as she changed the topic.
Grace knew what news Kyla was referring to. “Yes.”
“Judging from the photo, Brian must be serious about Valda. I had doubts before, but I think my doubts are unnecessary now,” Kyla said with a smile.
“So am I. I was afraid that Brian would find any random woman because of what I said to him, but it doesn’t look like that now. And even though I’ve only met Valda a couple of times and haven’t spent much time with her, I can tell she’s sincere. Perhaps only such a sincere woman can move a person like Brian,” said Grace.
“Yeah, so you should focus on looking after your unborn baby. I’m waiting for you to give birth to your baby safely and be their godmother,” said Kyla.
After Kyla left, Jason walked in. Looking at the look on his wife’s face, he smiled. “Alright, it seems we have nothing to worry about anymore.”
“Yeah, Kyla has her own plans. Besides, no one forced Kyla to do it. She did it willingly,” said Grace, who was also relieved to know this.
“Worry less about other people’s business. The doctor also said you shouldn’t have mood swings,”
Jason said softly.
“Got it. I’ll take good care of the baby in my belly!”
“No, your main concern is to take good care of yourself,” Jason corrected her. She mattered the most to him!
Grace stared at the person in front of her. Her figure was reflected in his beautiful peach eyes as if she meant everything to him.
She knew he probably would not survive either if anything. happened to her. She selfishly wanted the baby and dragged him into it.
“You’re right. My main concern should be taking good care of myself,” she murmured. She had thought that it did not matter whether she existed.
However, he had let her know how important she was to him!
Grace moved her body, trying to roll over to lie flat. She had just moved her body when she suddenly gasped and frowned.
“What’s the matter?” he immediately asked nervously.
“I have a cramp… in my leg. Ouch!” Grace said in pain. She had been getting more leg cramps as she was further along in her pregnancy.
Especially when lying down. Grace would easily have a cramp whenever she tried rolling over.
Jason bent over and gently lifted her nightdress. His eyes fell on her two legs. “Left leg or right leg?”
“Right leg,” she said.
His long fingers began massaging her right calf, relieving her pain with moderate force.
“Do you feel better now?” he muttered.
“Yeah, I feel a little better,” she said.
He then continued massaging softly. She looked at him in silence as if she could do so until the end of time!
When Kyla returned to the store, she was surprised to see a black Maybach parked just outside.
Kyla stopped as her heart sank slightly with a certain bad feeling.
Sure enough, when she walked into the store, her mother told her, “Martin Weiss’s here. He’s inside.
He said he has something to say to you.”
Kyla nodded and replied in acknowledgment. She was preparing to walk in when Mrs. Corbyn said worriedly, “You and him…”
“Everything’s going to be okay. We have nothing to do with each other except this marriage. Martin Weiss must have come to talk with me about the press conference. It was the last thing I could do for him. I’ll just think of it as paying him back for donating me his liver again.”
Mrs. Corbyn sighed and said nothing more.
Kyla stepped into the room at the back of the store. Sure enough, she saw Martin Weiss sitting in the cramped living room.
“Hello, Mr. Weiss,” Kyla said indifferently.
Martin Weiss’s dark eyes looked up at her. “Did you call me Mr. Weiss? Didn’t you just call us a loving couple at the press conference?” His voice sounded sarcastic but also seemed to contain something else. “Of course, I won’t call you Mr. Weiss in public, but I think it’s better to be polite when there’s only the two of us.” In case she forgot her goal and thought they were in love.
“You didn’t have to agree to such a thing. Even if Weiss Group does lose some money, the company won’t collapse,” he said.
Kyla said, “But the press conference proved that it worked. The share price has started to recover. I’m going to L City in a few days. You don’t need to come.”
He stared at her and said, “Are you really going to pretend we’re a loving couple in public? It’s not too late for you to back out. I can make up some other excuses.”
She only smiled faintly. “There’s nothing to regret. You haven’t filed the divorce papers yet, so we’re still married. I did what I thought I should do. You can make an excuse to end our marriage when this is over.”
His thin lips were pressed together. Her nonchalance made him uncomfortable for a moment.
“What excuse do you think we can give?” he asked coldly.
“It can be me insisting on getting a divorce because I can’t fit in or me not wanting to be a rich madam who only takes care of her husband and children. We can also say that we don’t see eye to eye with each other. Our love lost to reality, so we decided to get a divorce. Or… Or maybe I just married you so you could donate me your liver. Since I’ve achieved my goal, I divorced you.”
Each of her examples made his face grimmer.
She would have to bear the blame herself if they used her excuses.
“Do you want to divorce me so badly that you would slander yourself?” Martin Weiss frowned and asked unhappily.
