Kyla’s answered the reporters, “We’re not divorced. Martin Weiss and I are in a stable marriage, and as to why he brought Shana Nicholls to the banquet you mentioned that day, it’s because Shana Nicholls is my husband’s private nurse. I wasn’t feeling well that day, so she attended it instead of me. I didn’t think it would lead to a misunderstanding.”

“Does that mean Mr. Martin Weiss has a problem with his health?”

“My husband needed a nurse because he donated his liver to me twice. I probably wouldn’t have survived if it hadn’t been for my husband. He’s doing well. Otherwise, the doctors wouldn’t have discharged him. We hired a professional nurse to take care of him because I wanted someone to take care of him when I’m not around,” replied Kyla.

“Is it okay that you two live apart? Since your husband donated his liver to you twice, shouldn’t you stay with him and take care of him yourself?”

“I gave birth and had the second liver transplant surgery simultaneously, so I’m not well enough to care for a patient. I stay in Emerald City because I want to care for my mother, and my eldest son goes to school here. I hope to move back to L City after my eldest son finishes his studies this semester.”

“I heard you run a store. You’re Martin Weiss’s wife. The Weiss family can easily afford a better house for you and your children. Besides that, you won’t have to take care of your children and run a store at the same time.”

“My mother mainly runs the store. I’m only helping her out. I might be Martin Weiss’s wife, but my mother doesn’t want to rely on the Weiss family and wants to earn her own living. As her daughter, I can’t say much about it.”

“Then why are you living in a humble house behind the store with your children? Besides, you seem to have lived there for years, and you only got married about a year ago but your eldest son is already 10 years old. Does this mean you two don’t really have a good relationship and maybe you wouldn’t have gotten married if you hadn’t gotten pregnant with your second child?”

“I got pregnant with our second child because we have a good relationship. I had low self-esteem and thought I wasn’t good enough for Martin. But I gradually got over it because Martin was persistent. I’ll move back to L City and live with Martin in the future. I also want people to stop speculating about our relationship!”

Kyla’s answer was almost textbook, giving a picture of marital stability while also shaping a good image of her husband, Martin Weiss.

Only then did Valda Theller realize that Kyla’s husband was Martin Weiss, the chairman of Weiss Group in L City.

The Weiss family of L City was affluent!

“Kyla’s husband donated his liver to Kyla twice, so they must have a good relationship,” murmured Valda Theller. Then, she asked Brian, “Do you know Martin Weiss?”

Brian said, “Yes, we’ve met several times. Martin Weiss did love Kyla very much back then.”

“Back then?” She was stunned. “Doesn’t he love her now?”

“I’m not sure. I know that Martin Weiss left Kyla and returned to L City after he donated his liver to Kyla a second time. I’m afraid. I don’t know what happened between them, but Martin Weiss probably won’t separate with Kyla if he still loves her,” said Brian.

He would never leave the person he loved most if it were him.

Valda Theller had only met Kyla once but had a good impression of her. “I hope Kyla has a happy marriage. They have two children together… And her husband has donated his liver to her twice. I don’t think average couples can do that.”

“If she hadn’t given birth to the second child, Martin Weiss wouldn’t have needed to donate his liver twice. Kyla nearly died on the operating table to give birth to the second child. Do you think she was selfish or selfless?” Brian smiled sarcastically as he stared at Kyla’s short news report that was on loop on the phone screen.

“That… That’s just because she wanted to keep the baby,” muttered Valda Theller.

“What else is there to talk about if you lose your life for your children? Kyla is fortunate to have Martin Weiss willing to risk his liver to keep her alive. If Martin Weiss hadn’t risked donating his liver a second time, Kyla would already be six feet under.” Brian sounded agitated. He was so different from his usual indifferent self.

It was the second time he had expressed disapproval of women taking risks to have children.

“Are you worried about Grace?” The soft female voice rang in his ears.

Brian froze instantly and stared blankly at the person in front of him.

Valda Theller gently said, “I know you’re worried about Grace’s condition because Grace is also insistent on giving birth to her unborn child. Women not only risk their lives to have children because the babies are their blood and human life but also because they love the father of their children.”

After a pause, she whispered, “The more you love them, the more risks you’re willing to take. The deeper the love, the more risks you’ll take.”

“Love?” Brian burst into a wry smile. “Yeah, Grace… loves Jason.

very much. She… loves him very much…”

His smile looked forlorn, making Valda Theller’s heart suddenly clench. “I… I’m sorry. I… I shouldn’t have said that.” She should not have upset him.

“You’re not wrong. What is there to apologize for?” he said as he looked down gently. His long lashes seemed to cover his eyes. “Don’t you think it’s unfair? I met her first, but she fell in love with Jason.”

“God will arrange for you to meet someone who’ll love you very much,” her gentle voice said.

He trembled as his eyelashes quivered slightly. Then, he slowly looked up. His phoenix eyes saw her face that was pretty, cute, and amiable.

Her expression was so serious. Those round eyes showed concern and… a more intense feeling for him.

“Do you love me?” His thin lips muttered.

“Yes.” She was honest and did not shy away from it.

“How much do you love me?”

“I don’t know how much I love you, but I want to be with you. I’m willing to do everything I can for that!”

“What if I never fall for you?”

Valda Theller said softly, “Then I won’t force you. I’ll only regret that I couldn’t make you love me, so I’ll love you very much until then. I’ll love you until you feel that my love has become a burden for you. I’ll put away my love when that happens so it won’t affect you.” His dark phoenix eyes stared at the person in front of him as if something had touched his heart.

The woman was confessing her love for him with such an expression. The surge of bitterness in his heart seemed to fade away…

“Then try to make me fall for you, okay?” he murmured as he leaned forward and rested his lips on hers.

Her eyes widened instantly. ‘He’s… kissing me!

‘He’s not acting or doing it for show. He just wanted to… kiss me!’

He closed his eyes and gradually lengthened the kiss.

The touch of her soft lips was like an analgesic, easing the pain in his heart. It turned out that kissing felt so good, calm, and heart-melting.

After an unknown amount of time, Brian finally ended the kiss.

“Love me and don’t give up halfway.”

He had an intuition that this woman in front of him might be the one to pull him out of the abyss.

“Okay.” Valda Theller heard herself saying. One could say that Kyla’s press conference knocked down the rumors of her and Martin Weiss’s marital crisis and explained Martin Weiss’s physical condition.

Martin Weiss donated his liver to his wife twice, so others could definitely see his love for his wife.

Therefore, they suddenly started talking about Martin Weiss’s loyalty. In many women’s opinions, he suddenly became a loving man willing to do everything and risk his life for his wife instead of a ‘suspected’ cheater.

After the press conference, Weiss Group’s share price stopped falling and skyrocketed.

One could say that the press conference was a success.

However, Martin Weiss turned livid after watching the video of the press conference. After hearing what Kyla said to the reporters, his lips even tightened into a line.

“Who arranged the press conference?” Martin Weiss asked coldly. Kyla could not have arranged such a press conference by herself.

“Old Madam arranged it,” a member of his staff replied.

Martin Weiss instantly got up and instructed, “Prepare the car to return to the old residence!”

Half an hour later, Martin Weiss arrived at the Weiss family’s old residence and met Mrs. Weiss.

“Why did you arrange the press conference?” Martin Weiss asked as he looked at his mother.

“I did it for the Weiss family and the company. It’s the fastest way,”

said Mrs. Weiss.

“I thought I told you I have nothing to do with her anymore. Why involve her with us again?” Martin Weiss asked through clenched teeth.

Mrs. Weiss explained, “Yes, I hope you have nothing to do with her as well. But with the present situation, it only works when she says it herself! Besides, I’ve made it clear to her that she’ll only be saying that to dispel the rumors. You two are only delaying your divorce for a while. She’ll never be able to be the Weiss family’s daughter-

in-law.”

Martin Weiss frowned. “So you’re only using her?”

“Or what? What else could it be? You’ll divorce her when this is all over, won’t you? You don’t want to keep the divorce papers around forever, do you?” Mrs. Weiss said.

Martin Weiss pressed his thin lips tightly and said nothing.

Yoh I love Brian for taking initiative and kiss Valda. I wish them everlasting relationship. While Martin and Kyla are boring me to prolong things like this busy playing hide and seek.
