Now… Valda Theller was asking him if he would wear a silver bracelet as she held two in her hands.
He wanted to reject her almost subconsciously, but the words of rejection were stuck in his throat when he saw hope in those round eyes.
‘Couple bracelets… Since we’re now a real couple, it makes sense to wear couple bracelets.
‘Besides, maybe… I can better hide my feelings for Grace after wearing it. I can use the bracelet to remind me that I should love Valda Theller!’
“If you want me to wear it, I’ll do it,” said Brian.
“Really?” Valda Theller’s eyes lit up. Brian only found her eyes to be twinkling like stars. They look exceptionally beautiful.
“Yes,” he replied as he reached out to take one of the bracelets she was holding and slipped it onto his left wrist.
Although it was only a common silver bracelet, it was not ugly to wear on the wrist.
Valda Theller wore the other bracelet on her right hand and put it next to Brian’s left hand.
The two identical bracelets did look good on the wrists of the man and woman.
“I’ll take these bracelets. How much are they?” Valda Theller asked.
“The cheapest I can offer you is 700 dollars for the pair,” the stall owner said.
Brian was about to pay when Valda Theller quickly said, “You’ve paid for the dolls just now. Let me pay for this.”
“I’m not used to women paying,” he said.
-“But we’re a couple now. Think of it as a gift from me. I’ll feel weird you have to pay for a gift I got for you.” Valda Theller insisted.
Brian glanced at the bracelet on his wrist… ‘A gift?’ He now had mixed feelings in his heart.
He finally said nothing more. Valda Theller paid the bill and looked happily at the bracelet on her wrist.
“Do you like the bracelet so much?” he asked.
She smiled sheepishly. “It’s my first time wearing couple bracelets, and it feels new.”
“What do you feel?” he asked.
“I feel like I’m not alone anymore,” she said. She finally had company.
Brian’s eyes glimmered slightly. ‘Not alone anymore?’ He suddenly recalled how the woman beside him always looked optimistic but in truth, she lost her parents when she was little. She was dependent on others until she started university.
“Brian, can you wear this bracelet whenever we go on dates? It’s a cheap bracelet, but I… think we look more like a couple if we wear the same bracelets,” Valda Theller said in anticipation, afraid that he was unwilling to wear the bracelet.
After all, even the button of his shirt probably cost more than the bracelet.
“I’m gonna wear it all the time,” said Brian.
She smiled. “Really?”
“Do you think I need to palter with you?” he asked casually.
She touched her nose, feeling indescribable delight deep down.
After the night market, Brian drove Valda Theller back to her apartment. Valda Theller said, “By the way, the gown and jewelry I wore to the banquet last time are still at home. Why don’t you wait here for a while? I’ll bring them downstairs to return them to you.”
He smiled lightly. “The dress and jewelry are meant for you.”
“No, no!” She waved her hand quickly. She did not know their real value, but she knew they were worth a lot. “Let me return them to you. I don’t usually have a chance to wear them. I don’t know what to do with them if you give them to me.”
“How could you have no chance? Since you intend to continue dating me on the premise of marriage, you’ll need the gown and jewelry again. Besides, who do you wish me to give them to, if you return them to me?” he said.
She was rendered speechless instantly.
“Alright. You’re my girlfriend, and your boyfriend willingly gave them to you,” he said. Valda Theller blushed. The word ‘willingly’ made her heart melt.
After getting out of the car, she waved and entered her apartment block. As she got into the elevator, she lifted her hand to gently touch the silver bracelet on her right hand.
At least… it was a good start. They were no longer acting but becoming more and more like a couple.
Maybe Brian could get over Grace one day and truly accept her.
At least it was what she expected.
In the car, Brian leaned heavily on the back of the chair and closed his eyes. ‘This must be what it’s like to date.’
eol ous Wife is an Ex-Convict!
He felt relaxed spending time with Valda Theller. Maybe it would be a good choice to continue things with her like this.
If he could fall in love with Valda Theller, it would be the best for everyone.
Opening his eyes slowly, Brian looked at the silver bracelet on his wrist. “Grace, I’ll fulfill any wish you have.”
He would also try his best to fall for another person!
The next day, the executives of Hart Group were surprised to find their boss wearing a silver bracelet on his wrist. It was hard to imagine someone like the crown prince wearing silver. Someone even searched for the bracelet on luxury platforms, but no one found it.
The silver bracelet became part of the employees’ gossip.
When Patrick came looking for Brian, he naturally saw the silver bracelet too. He was not an employee, so he asked right away, “Why are you wearing a bracelet like that? Did you get it from street stalls?”
Patrick had a keen eye. He had seen countless fine jewelry and could easily tell that the bracelet was not of any high quality.
“Yeah, it’s 700 dollars for two,” Brian said indifferently. Patrick was confused. “Why would you buy things from street stalls?”
“I didn’t. It’s from Valda. They’re couple bracelets,” said Brian.
“Pfft!”
Patrick almost spat out the tea he was drinking. “Couple bracelets?”
Compared to Patrick’s shock, Brian looked calm.
“I didn’t expect Valda Theller to make you wear such bracelets.”
Patrick lamented.
“I’m serious about her,” said Brian.
“How serious?” Patrick was curious.
“We’re dating on the premise of marriage.”
Patrick really spat out his tea this time.
Brian frowned as Patrick quickly took out a tissue to wipe it. Patrick said, “Are you planning on marrying her someday?”
“I’ll marry her if our relationship is stable,” said Brian. When she fell for him and he could fall for her, it was only natural for them to get married.
Sometimes, he even felt he would marry her even if he did not love her.
He was willing to make her Mrs. Hart, provide her with a good life, and let her be under his protection for the rest of his life.
However… t would seem unfair to her.
Even if he was willing to have a marriage like this, she might not.
Patrick was dumbstruck. “What a… surprise. I thought you were never going to get married. Do your parents know?”
“I haven’t told them yet. I’ll tell them when our relationship is more stable,” said Brian.
