They got into the car, and he drove off toward the night market.
Valda Theller chose a pedestrian street in Emerald City, where night market stalls were set up at night.
*She enjoyed coming here. Firstly, the prices were affordable, and she could bargain with the stall owners. Secondly, there would be some unique trinkets every now and then, like commemorative coins or handmade items. She would buy some when she saw them.
Brian’s car stopped at the parking lot next to the night market. Valda Theller and Brian got out of the car and began to walk around the night market.
Many couples came to the night market. Valda Theller looked at the couples. They either linked their arms or were holding hands. People could tell they were a couple in one glance.
‘What about me… What do Brian and I look like to others?’ Valda Theller thought to herself as she glanced down at Brian’s hand drooping at the side.
His hands were pretty as his fingers were well-defined and slender. They looked just like the fingers of a comic’s male protagonist.
Suddenly, she felt an urge to hold his hand but was a little timid. What if her touch made him uncomfortable?
“What’s the matter?” His voice suddenly rang over her head.
She suddenly looked up into his dark phoenix eyes. Her confused face was reflected in his eyes.
“I…” Valda Theller seemed to muster up all her courage as she said, “I want to hold hands with you… Is that okay? We’re… a couple now. We’ll bond easier if we hold hands…” However, her voice grew quieter as it went on.
A look of surprise came over his eyes. Then, he came to his senses. “I hadn’t thought of that,” he said, actively reaching out to hold Valda Theller’s hand.
She felt a pang in her heart as she felt her right hand burn when he held it.
He… was holding her hand.
Though they had held hands in front of people before when they were pretending to be dating, she had never been so aware of his warmth reaching her body as they held hands.
For some reason, a familiar phrase crossed her mind all of a sudden… ‘Grow old together.
‘Can we do that?
‘Can we grow old together?’, Valda Theller held hands with Brian and they strolled around the night market in a daze. She could feel many people’s eyes on them. It must be because of Brian.
He was like a spotlight.
Suddenly, she heard someone whispering, “This guy is so handsome. He looks just like the crown prince of the entertainment industry!”
“Come on. Would the crown prince walk around a night market holding a woman’s hand?” someone else said.
“But he does look like him.”
“I guess they just look alike.”
Valda Theller looked at Brian and muttered, “Will anyone recognize you?”
“It’s alright if they do,” he said nonchalantly.
“But… But it might go viral if it gets on the news. Will our relationship be exposed?” she said worriedly.
“You don’t want our relationship to be exposed to the public?” he asked.
She said awkwardly, “I just think it’ll draw too much attention and…” She was silent for a moment before saying, “I have a dark history when I was in university. It’ll be bad if people use it against. you and cause you trouble.”
Brian stopped and turned to look at the woman beside him. He thought she was afraid that the exposure would bring her trouble. He never thought it was him she was worried about.
“No matter what history you have back then, you don’t have to be afraid of causing me any trouble. If we date on the premise of marriage, then our relationship will be exposed sooner or later. But I won’t let my relationship go viral. I’ll suppress the news about it when it happens. Don’t worry,” said Brian.
No one in the entertainment industry would go against the crown prince.
Valda Theller only nodded without saying anything.
“By the way, does your so-called dark history refer to your relationship with Raymond Bowman in university?” he asked.
She replied in a mutter, “Yeah. I got a bad reputation in university after that. Some people thought I tried every means to bother Raymond Bowman.”
Valda Theller’s eyes dimmed as she recalled how strangers called her shameless whenever they saw her.
Her gloomy appearance made Brian feel uncomfortable. He liked to see her usual self, not dejected like this.
Brian suddenly said, “Do you want me to help you get justice? I can get Raymond Bowman to clarify the incident and tell everyone who misunderstood you the truth.”
Valda Theller looked blankly at Brian.
“What’s the matter? Do you think it’s impossible? Since I said so, I can do it,” he said. It was because he wanted to get rid of the gloom in her eyes.
“No, no. Of course, I know you can do it.” Valda Theller bit her lip slightly and said, “But there’s no need for it. Even if he makes it clear, people will only think Raymond Bowman was forced to say that because of you. People will only think what he said is false.”
After a pause, she said, “As long as you don’t think it’ll affect you, then it doesn’t matter to me. I’m too old to care about it anyway. I’ve lost contact with my university classmates except for Camille now that it’s been so many years.”
With that said, she faked a relaxed smile and said, “Alright, enough about that. There are a few stalls I often visit. Some of their knickknacks are pretty delicate.
Accompany me to have a look.”
Brian’s eyes glimmered slightly before he said, “Okay, let’s go.”
Valda Theller and Brian came to a stall with handmade dolls and accessories.
Valda Theller and the stall owner were obviously familiar with each other as they greeted each other.
“By the way, didn’t you say you could custom-make dolls last time?” Valda Theller asked.
“Yeah, how would you like it?” the stall owner asked.
Valda Theller said, “Please hand me a paper and pen. I’ll draw it for you.”
The stall owner replied and handed over a paper and pen. Valda Theller quickly drew on the white paper.
In just a short while, two adorable cartoons were sketched out with simple brush strokes. Brian could see at a glance that these cartoons were based on him and Valda Theller.
“Let’s do it like this.” Valda Theller finished the drawing and handed the pen and paper back to the stall owner.
The stall owner was amazed as they looked at the drawing. Then, they replied, “Okay, you can pick them up in a week. These two dolls cost a total of 220 dollars.”
Valda Theller was familiar with the stall owner and knew that the price was the lowest they could offer.
She was about to pay when Brian said, “Let me pay.”
With that said, he took out his phone and scanned the code to pay.
“Anything else?” he asked.
“Why don’t you look at some jewelry? We got a new batch of handmade jewelry. They’re 100%
handmade,” the stall owner said enthusiastically.
Brian had no interest in such jewelry, of course. However, Valda Theller looked at them with interest.
She suddenly saw a pair of silver bracelets. The bracelets were neutral and suitable for both genders.
They were also adjustable, so one did need not worry about whether they fit.
-Valda Theller picked up the bracelets and looked at them carefully.
The stall owner nearby began to talk, “This is a pair of couple bracelets. They’re best worn by a man and a woman. Besides, they go with anything you wear…”
Valda Theller turned to look at Brian. “Well… Would you mind wearing this?”
His eyelashes quivered slightly as he looked at the bracelet she was holding. ‘A silver bracelet? What a coincidence. Grace also gave me a silver bracelet when she was a child.’
The silver bracelet became his obsession for years. He used to carry the silver bracelet with him all the time. It was not until Grace got married that he finally stopped wearing it and put it away.
