Her hand that was holding the chopsticks paused as she hesitated for a while, “Do I need a reason to kiss you?”

“Don’t you?” he asked.

She then said. “If you think I need a reason, perhaps the church had such a good atmosphere that I couldn’t help myself.”

“You couldn’t help yourself?” His dark eyes narrowed slightly.

She smiled faintly. “Martin Weiss, do you think I can resist your charm?”

He pressed his thin lips together uneasily. “I don’t find your joke funny.”

“I’m not joking. We’re now husband and wife. Isn’t it normal that a wife can’t help kissing her husband?”

she said.

He glared at her. “Kyla, what are you playing at? I’m telling you, it doesn’t matter what tricks you pull.

You’re going to have to sign the divorce papers once today ends!” She said, “I know. Don’t worry. I’m not gonna play games. I only answered you seriously. I truly couldn’t help myself at the time.”

She met his eyes without evading them and confessed her feelings.

Moments later, he looked away, picked up his chopsticks, and began eating.

Kyla’s eyes shone vaguely with disappointment. She had kissed him in the church to make that kiss their wedding kiss.

She had imagined them having their wedding in the church, and she thought to herself when she kissed him… ‘I do.’

However, he would not know these, and she did not have to tell him.

Kyla lowered her head and continued eating.

The dining table was silent as the two people said nothing. When they finished, Kyla tried hard to smile. “Alright, we’re done. Hubby, get the check.”

He was shocked to hear her calling him that. He suppressed the strange sensation and called the waiter over so he could pay the bill.

Kyla continued smiling as she said, “Now let’s go to the movie theater. I booked tickets for a movie in an hour. We’ll walk there, and walking will help us digest the lunch we just had. It’s killing two birds with one stone.”

“Lead the way, then.” He got up and walked out of the restaurant.

She quickly ran after him, took his hand, and said, “Martin, why don’t you smile? I don’t think I’ve seen you smile much today.”

He looked at her coldly. “I only promised to spend the day with you today, but I didn’t say I’d do it with a smile.”

“But a day with or without a smile is the same. Isn’t it better to smile?” She did not want to recall him being so cold when she recalled the memory of this day.

“That’s unnecessary. Kyla, don’t push your luck,” he said.

She froze. The words ‘push your luck’ cut her heart like a sharp sword and put her in a lot of pain.

It turned out that wanting to see his smile had become her trying to push her luck. It turned out they were now worlds apart!

She just had been unwilling to admit it and fantasized that he would have some feelings for her. “I see. Let’s go,” she muttered before leading him to the movie theater.

He watched her smile fade away, and he felt like there was something in his chest. His body silently condemned him as if he had just done something wrong.

‘I did nothing wrong!’ he thought to himself.

He did not need to smile at her, and it did not matter what she thought. After today, the only relationship they had with each other was that they were parents of their children, nothing else.

Kyla bought movie tickets for a romantic comedy. They were surrounded by laughter when watching the movie, but Martin Weiss did not feel like laughing.

Almost all his attention fell on the delicate hand that held his right hand tightly.

She had been holding his hand like this since she sat down.

If walking hand-in-hand had been bearable to him, the sensation was stronger when she held his hand like this while sitting in the dark. Especially when her finger would move from time to time. Her fingertips made him stiffen when they brushed across his palm. All the blood concentrated in his hand, and his body instinct seemed to be yearning for more of her touch.

When her hand moved again and tightened her hold on his hand, he jerked it away to withdraw it.

“No!” she cried softly and held it harder as if afraid he might pull away. “Let me hold it for a little longer, okay?”

He pressed his thin lips together tightly and hesitated. Just then, his phone vibrated. The next moment, he yanked his hand back, took out his phone, and almost fled out of the hall with it.

– Kyla felt an emptiness in her hand. Some people would not stay no matter how much she tried to keep them.

She smiled bitterly. Moments later, she got up and walked out of the hall.

As soon as she walked out of the hall, she saw Martin Weiss on the phone.

“Okay, I see. I’ll go back right now.” Martin Weiss put away the phone after he was done speaking. He turned around to see Kyla standing behind him.

His eyes sparkled slightly, and he said, “We have to stop our date here. I have to go back.”

“Did something happen?” Kyla asked quickly.

“There’s something I didn’t want to attend, but… my mother insists that I attend. I’m afraid I won’t get back to the mansion until very late,” said Martin Weiss.

With that, he wanted to leave.

She grabbed his arm immediately. “Do you have to attend it today?” He looked at her. “Yes. I can make up the rest of the time for you if you don’t think you haven’t had enough.”

Kyla felt a pang in her heart. ‘Make it up to me? That sounds like a business deal.

‘No, today is a deal. I exchanged a day with him for my agreement to divorce him.’

She said, “I’ll go back with you. As for the rest of the time… You don’t have to make it up to me. I’ll sign the divorce papers after midnight.”

He looked at her with slight surprise. Moments later, he said indifferently, “Whatever floats your boat.”

They left the movie theater and got into the car. When they reached the mansion, they saw Mrs. Weiss and Shana Nicholls.

Shana Nicholls was in a fancy dress and elaborate makeup. She looked as if she was going to attend a banquet.

As soon as Mrs. Weiss saw Martin Weiss, she said, “I asked Nurse Ruan to go to the banquet with you.

She’ll be there to take care of you if something goes wrong with your body.” Martin Weiss frowned slightly, and Mrs. Weiss said, “You know today’s banquet is to end all those rumors about your health. I’ll feel better if Nurse Ruan is with you.”

Martin Weiss pondered for a moment before tacitly accepting Mrs.

Weiss’s arrangement. “I’ll go change my clothes.” With that said, he went up the stairs.

Suddenly, Mrs. Weiss, Shana Nicholls, and Kyla were the only ones left in the living room.

Mrs. Weiss looked at Kyla and said, “I heard you went out with Martin today. I thought you would care about Martin’s health. He’s not in the condition to run around outside for a long time. You don’t care about Martin at all. If you drag him around outside again the next time, I’ll…”

“There won’t be a next time,” said Kyla.

“What do you mean there won’t be a next time?” Mrs. Weiss asked.

“I’m signing the divorce papers and returning to Emerald City tomorrow.” Kyla smiled faintly and said, “I don’t think I’ll be back very often, so you have nothing to worry about anymore, Aunt.”

Mrs. Weiss froze, not knowing what to say all of a sudden. Shana Nicholls’s face lit up with joy as soon as she heard that. ‘Kyla’s divorcing Mr. Weiss? Besides, she’s returning to Emerald City and won’t come to L City again. That’s great!’

It took a long while for Mrs. Weiss to say, “Are you telling the truth this time? You won’t go back on your word like you did then, will you?”

Kyla knew Mrs. Weiss was referring to the fact that she had promised to separate with Martin Weiss in the hospital back then.

However, she eventually came to L City to look for Martin again. She did it for Amber Mitchell and hoped Martin could drop the lawsuit.

“No,” she said.

Mrs. Weiss gazed at Kyla. “I’ll trust you one last time. I hope your won’t disappoint me.”
