Had everything she done today just made herself look like a clown to him?

As Kyla was about to pass Shana Nicholls while going down. the stairs, Shana Nicholls suddenly stopped. Shana Nicholls faced Kyla and asked, “Why did you come back?”

Kyla also stopped and looked at her.

“Since you didn’t come back when Mr. Weiss was seriously ill after his operation and ignored him when he was most in need, why did you come back now? Mr. Weiss is going to divorce you, isn’t he? But you still want to cling to the title of Mrs. Weiss. Do you think the divorce terms aren’t good enough, so you want to ask for more?”

Shana Nicholls questioned, but she looked and spoke as if she were the mistress.

Kyla’s face darkened as she said, “You have no right to question our marriage, Nurse Ruan. You’re only a nurse taking care of my husband’s health during this time.”

“You…” Shana Nicholls was mad. The statement that she was only a nurse cut deeply into her nerves.

She was indeed only a nurse now, and the woman in front of her hogged the title of Mrs. Weiss.

“I just pity Mr. Weiss for marrying a woman like you,” snapped Shana Nicholls.

“So, do you think you qualify to marry him?” Kyla asked in reply, her dark eyes looking at Shana Nicholls as if they could see through her.

Shana Nicholls’s face reddened instantly. She had no idea how she was going to answer that.

Shana Nicholls pressed her red lips together tightly and said nothing. However, she deliberately bumped Kyla’s shoulder as she passed by her.

“Ah!” Kyla lost balance and fell to the bottom of the stairs. Her hand instinctively went for the railing beside her.

Even so, she fell several steps before managing to steady herself. She felt a fit of sharp pain in her ankle.

Kyla gasped and looked up toward Shana Nicholls at the top of the stairs.

Shana Nicholls pursed her lips in disdain as she said in a nonchalant joking tone, “Hey, be careful when taking the stairs. It’ll be a big deal if you tumble down the stairs due to your carelessness. People would think I pushed you down the stairs, and that’s not a sin I can bear!”

Kyla said coldly, “If I do fall down the stairs, it’ll be a crime you can’t bear. I don’t know what you’re up to, but you’d better not do it again. I can even consider what you did earlier as attempted murder!”

Martin had sacrificed so much to give her a chance to live.

She cherished her life more than anyone else.

Shana Nicholls’s face turned even redder. “What are you talking about? Don’t make any accusations! It happened because you didn’t step on the steps properly!” With that said, Shana Nicholls hurried away guiltily.

Kyla pressed her lips together as she limped down the stairs. She found a chair, rolled up her pant leg, and looked at her ankle.

Sure enough, her ankle was already swollen.

In this case, she would probably need to apply some medicine to it. Otherwise, the swelling would be so bad that she would have trouble walking.

Therefore, Kyla found a servant and asked where the medical kit was.

“There’s no medical kit here. Go to Nurse Ruan for medicine, but she’s only in charge of Mr. Weiss,”

the servant said without any respect.

Martin Weiss’s attitude toward Mrs. Weiss these days was obvious to the servants in the mansion.

Besides, Mr. Weiss was divorcing the woman, so the servants were naturally contemptuous of Kyla.

Some would even deliberately make things difficult for her.

Kyla instantly asked no more questions after hearing that.

She was aware of the servants’ attitude toward her, and she knew she would not succeed in getting medicine from Shana Nicholls.

Kyla limped out of the mansion while holding her phone.

At the intersection, she hailed a taxi and went to the nearby drugstore. After buying the medicine, she was about to leave when a car stopped in front of her.

“Miss Corbyn, Old Madam wants to see you,” somebody got out of the car and spoke respectfully to her.

Kyla’s heart sank instantly. She already knew that she would meet Martin Weiss’s mother again sooner or later when she came to L City.

She had promised Mrs. Weiss to separate from Martin Weiss, but she now came to L City voluntarily and refused to sign the divorce papers. How could Mrs. Weiss not know about this?

Kyla got into the car and arrived at the Weiss family’s mansion.

When she limped after the servant into the Weiss family’s living room, Mrs. Weiss looked at her walking posture and said indifferently, “Miss Corbyn, you’re wounded.”‘

“I sprained my ankle, but it’ll be alright in a few days,” said Kyla.

Mrs. Weiss said indifferently, “Some injuries can heal in a few days, but some injuries aren’t that simple. They can’t be healed in a few days.”

Kyla was silent for a moment before saying, “I’m sorry. I know Martin donated his liver a second time for me. I…”

“It was his choice, and you have nothing to apologize for!”

‘Mrs. Weiss picked up the teacup in front of her, took a sip from it, and said, “I’m not going to blame you for this. After all, as a mother, I understand that you wanted to give birth to the baby in your belly. The child also carries the Weiss family’s blood and is Martin’s child. You risked your life for the baby, and he sacrificed his health to save you.

It’s hard to say who’s right or wrong.”

Mrs. Weiss paused as she said that. Her eyes suddenly turned sharply to Kyla. “I just want to ask if you remember what you promised me, Miss Corbyn?”

Kyla stiffened. It was still this question after all.

“I meant it when I agreed to it, and I did try to keep my promise. It’s just that… I didn’t realize I’d end up dragging Martin down.”

“Why won’t you get a divorce when you know you’re dragging him down? As far as I know, Martin has asked the lawyer to talk to you about the divorce.”

Kyla clenched her teeth. “It’s because I love Martin. Back then, I was afraid that I loved him too little and would not have much time left to live when my liver failed after giving birth. That’s why I wanted to separate from him. But now… I’d like to be with him if he’s still willing to love me!”

“You love him?” Mrs. Weiss suddenly rubbed her temples as if she had a headache. “You’ve never loved him after all these years, but you’re suddenly saying that you love him. Miss Corbyn, what on earth are you thinking? You know Martin doesn’t have feelings for you anymore, don’t you?” “I know he doesn’t have any feelings for me, but I want to fight for it anyway. Three months. I only need three months. I told him that I’ll sign the divorce papers if he still insists on divorcing after three months.

I won’t waste any more time,”

said Kyla.

Mrs. Weiss put down the teacup in her hand. ‘Are you are you really going to sign the papers after three months?”

“If he doesn’t love me after three months, I’ll sign the papers without causing any more trouble. But if he’s still willing to love me and have a family with me after three months, I hope you can accept a… mediocre daughter-in-law like me, Aunt.”

She looked intently at the woman in front of her. No one could tell which one of them was right.

However, if Kyla meant what she said, it was just another three months.

“I hope you’ll keep your word,” Mrs. Weiss said in the end.

Kyla’s eyes darkened slightly. Mrs. Weiss was hoping she would sign the divorce papers in three months.

Yes. In her opinion, she was only a woman who kept hurting her son.

“I will,” said Kyla.

However, she saw Martin Weiss standing at the entrance of the living room as soon as she turned around. She had no idea how much of her and Mrs. Weiss’s conversation Martin Weiss heard.

“Mother, I told you to stay out of things between her and me!” Martin Weiss said coldly. Then, he walked up to Kyla and grabbed Kyla’s wrist to lead her away.

However, he felt Kyla stumble. She nearly fell after he had just taken a few steps.

He frowned and noticed that something was wrong with her foot.

“What happened to your foot?” he asked..

“I slipped down the stairs and twisted my ankle,” said Kyla.

Martin Weiss frowned before suddenly leaning over. He lifted Kyla’s pant leg to check her ankle.
