However, George Gregory was in no mood to watch Louise Mitchell play pretend. He asked the bodyguards to fend off the reporters and hurriedly got into his car with Louise Mitchell.

As soon as he got into the car, George Gregory said expressionlessly, “I gave you what you requested.

We’ll go to the hospital later and ask the hospital to give you a full-body check-up to prepare for Simon’s transfusion.”

The expression on Louise Mitchell’s face changed. “Did you get me out only because of Simon? Do you really have no feelings for me?”

George Gregory said indifferently, “Do you think I’m supposed to feel anything for you today? What do you think I should feel for a woman who can harm her sister and use her own son as a bargaining chip?”

“Do you really think I’m that evil?” said Louise Mitchell.

George Gregory said nothing as if he was not bothered to pay her any attention. He only closed his eyes to rest.

Louise Mitchell suddenly laughed, but her laughter sounded harsh. “George Gregory, you’re really heartless. You treated Amber Mitchell that way, and you’re treating me the same. Someone like you can never truly love anyone. You love only yourself!”

George Gregory’s eyes opened suddenly. “You’d better not mention Amber Mitchell in front of me again, or I’ll make sure you can never utter another word.”

Louise Mitchell’s pupils shrank suddenly. “Aren’t you afraid I won’t help Simon with his transfusion?”

“Since I’ve gotten you out, it’s not up to you to reject the transfusion. Even if you refuse to do so, I can still make you help Simon with his transfusion,” George Gregory said calmly.

Louise Mitchell’s heart sank. She knew how cold-blooded he was, but she had always hoped that he would develop feelings for her one day.

The more she had admired his tender affections for Amber Mitchell, the more she found herself ridiculous now.

Maybe he had exhausted all his affections when he was with Amber Mitchell, so he did not have any to give to her.

The car drove to the hospital, and Louise Mitchell followed George Gregory out of the vehicle. She was forced to go to the VIP ward that George Gregory had booked for her.

“Stay here for a few days first. The hospital will arrange for you to help with Simon’s transfusion after the full-body checkup. After that, I won’t stop you from going anywhere you want,” said George Gregory.

Louise Mitchell pressed her red lips tightly as she listened quietly and did not raise any objections.

Then, the nurse handed over a series of documents regarding the full-body check-up and blood draw for the transfusion, which Louise Mitchell signed.

A nurse soon led Louise Mitchell to do the check-up while George Gregory left the hospital.

He tiredly rubbed his brow in the car. A great sense of weariness filled his body.

Speaking of which, he did Amber Mitchell wrong today. However, he had to do it to save Simon.

‘Besides, didn’t Amber Mitchell betray my affections? Why should I feel guilty?’ George Gregory thought to himself.

Back at the Gregory family’s house, Old Master Gregory and Old Madam Gregory came over and asked, “How was it? Will Louise Mitchell help Simon with his transfusion?”

“She’s receiving a body check-up in the hospital. Even if she refuses, I’ll make her help Simon with the transfusion,” said George Gregory.

Old Madam Gregory was finally relieved, but she could not help lecturing, “How could there be such a mother? Iler son needs. her blood, yet she wants to make a bargain using this! After Simon recovers, divorce her no matter what. How could such a woman be the Gregory family’s daughter-in-law?”

Old Master Gregory had no objection to his wife’s statement and agreed with her.

He was also a little afraid of his daughter-in-law, Louise Mitchell. The Mitchell family indeed made people uncomfortable. Since the Mitchell family could shamelessly frame their own daughter, who knew what they would do in the future? It would be good to cut ties with the Mitchell family now. It would be better for their grandson not to have such a mother.

“Can Simon recover after the transfusion?” Old Madam Gregory was nervous.

“According to the doctor, there’s a high possibility he’ll recover. If the transfusion with Louise Mitchell’s blood fails to cure him, we’ll think of another way. I’ll contact doctors abroad to see what treatment options are available,” said George Gregory.

Old Madam Gregory wept. “Why is Simon so unfortunate? Louise Mitchell doesn’t deserve to be a mother. If she had been willing to help Simon with his transfusion sooner, Simon would not have suffered so much! Who would have thought that even Amber Mitchell would donate blood to Simon, but his own mother-”

“Alright, stop,” reminded Old Master Gregory. When they went to the hospital, they accidentally learned that one other person had donated blood apart from the three medical staff. That person happened to be Amber Mitchell.

Old Master Gregory and Old Madam Gregory were shocked for a while after learning that Amber Mitchell had donated blood to Simon.

Old Madam Gregory said no more as if she realized something.

George Gregory said indifferently, “Alright, I’m going back to my room to rest.” With that said, he walked to his room. He tiredly took off his clothes after entering his room. He entered the bathroom and let the warm water wash over his tired body.

Although he had only sat in the gallery during the trial, every second felt like he was on pins and needles.

Amber Mitchell did not even look at him much during the trial. Even if she glanced at him occasionally, it only seemed unintentional. He even hoped that she could look at him more, but it seemed like he did not exist to her at all.

George Gregory lowered his head as his fingers gently touched his heart. He had once pressed the woman’s hand firmly on his heart and said to her, “Amber Mitchell, I will forever be yours. You will be the only one I love in this life. If you don’t love me, my heart will die and never revive.”

Had his heart died?

Even though it was still beating, cach beat seemed to bring a fit of sharp pain.

It was worse than death!

After learning the verdict of the case, Grace called Amber Mitchell to comfort her. However, Mitchell did not sound upset in the phone call. Instead, she said confidently, “Louise Mitchell won’t get away so easily. I’ll let the law punish her.”

“Is there new progress with Herman Moss’s car accident case?”. Grace speculated because Amber Mitchell had told her that Louise Mitchell had something to do with the accident.

Amber Mitchell replied, “Yeah, there’s some progress. the Moss family has also sent someone to keep an eye on Louise Mitchell to prevent her from escaping.”

“That’s good,” said Grace. She did not want to see someone like Louise Mitchell get away with murder either.

“By the way, how are you doing? How’s the baby? Is everything okay?” Amber Mitchell asked.

“Everything’s fine. I just have to get more rest,” said Grace.

“That’s good. I’ll come to Emerald City to see you when the matter with Louise Mitchell is over,” said Amber Mitchell.

“Okay, I’ll wait for you,” said Grace. After the call, she raised her hand and caressed her belly. What she did not tell Amber Mitchell was that everything was unconfirmed. They could only decide after seeing the placenta’s growth.

If the situation was bad, they might not be able to keep the baby.

“What’s the matter? Are you worried about the baby again?” Jason came over and knew what Grace was worried about as soon as he saw the look on her face.

Grace nodded gently. “Yeah. I hope there won’t be any problems when the baby grows their placenta.”

Jason said, “Alright, don’t overthink it. No matter what the problem is, we’ll face it together. Grace, I just want you to remember that all I want is for you to be safe.”

Everything else was the next best thing. All he wanted was for her to be safe.

Grace gazed intently at Jason. His beautiful peach blossom eyes were full of worry.

The worry in his eyes somehow increased, and she knew it was all because of her.

She raised her hand to caress his eyebrows. “Don’t worry. I’ll be safe. Aren’t we going to grow old together?”

She knew better than anyone what would happen to this man if anything happened to her. Her life was not only hers. It was also his!

Jason held Grace. “You promised me that we’ll grow old together. You can’t go back on your word.”

“Okay, I won’t go back on my word,” she said gently as she leaned in his arms and listened to his heartbeat. Little by little, her anxiety seemed to dissipate. “By the way, do you know how Martin Weiss is doing now?” Grace asked.

Kyla and Martin Weiss’s youngest daughter, Trista, would be discharged from the neonatal care unit next week. She could return to Kyla’s side if everything went well.

However, Martin Weiss had never once visited Trista in the hospital, nor did he contact them. It was just like what he said before this. He wanted a clean separation.

Although Kyla said nothing, Grace could sense that Kyla was missing Martin Weiss.

“As far as I know, he’s currently in L city, recuperating in a mansion in the suburbs. He has passed over most of the company affairs to his subordinates. Only some decisions that affect the company are still made by him,” said Jason.

“Do you think he really wants a clean break-up with Kyla?” Grace asked.

“I guess so. But if Kyla wants to get back together with him, it’s not out of the question. Since Martin Weiss was willing to donate his kidney again to Kyla, could he refuse to be with Kyla if he learns that Kyla truly loves him?” Jason analyzed.

“I don’t know if Kyla can take that step,” Grace said with a sigh. If the doctor had not said that Kyla should not have too many emotional ups and downs in her current physical condition, she might have been unable to resist telling Kyla what Martin Weiss had done for her.

The Weiss family’s mansion in L City.
