She seemed to have gone back to the time of that car accident. Herman was protecting her with his body, and the warm blood dripped down Herman’s forehead onto her face and body.

It was a feeling she would never forget.

Sometime later, she was done getting her blood drawn.

The nurse gave her a red envelope. “This is a red envelope from the patient’s father. He’s grateful for your help today.”

“No thanks. I didn’t donate my blood for compensation.” Amber Mitchell declined.

“We know you didn’t donate your blood for compensation, but the patient’s family is just trying to show their gratitude. Besides, you need to buy some supplements to replenish your body after donating your blood. You’ll get a basic subsidy for regular blood donation too,” the nurse said as they put the red envelope in Amber Mitchell’s hand. “Just take it.”

“Why don’t you help me return it to the patient’s family?” Amber Mitchell asked.

“Well…” The nurse seemed stumped. “The patient’s family never take back what they’ve given away.”

“Why don’t you tell me where the patient’s family is and I’ll return it to them myself?” said Amber Mitchell.

“I’m afraid it’s inconvenient for us to disclose their information. without their consent,” the nurse said.

Amber Mitchell went silent.

Just then, another nurse put the bag away. Amber Mitchell vaguely heard a voice from the next room.

“Hurry and take it to the 12th floor.”

’12th floor? Is the kid who needs blood on the 12th floor?’ Amber Mitchell wondered to herself.

She could not leave immediately because she had just finished donating her blood. She had to rest for 30 minutes first. She could only leave if there were no adverse symptoms.

After 30 minutes passed, Amber Mitchell took the red envelope and left the blood-drawing room.

There was only one 12-story building dedicated to the inpatient department in this hospital.

Therefore, Amber Mitchell went to the inpatient department and took the elevator. She intended to check with the nurses’ station on the 12th floor to see if she could find the patient’s family and return them the red envelope.

However, after she got to the 12th floor, she ran into George Gregory coming out of the doctor’s office when she was walking through the corridor.

He was accompanied by several doctors, who seemed to be talking to him while walking.

“Mr. Gregory, the transfusion is only to handle the emergency. It’s safer to transfuse the child with his mother’s blood. Blood from a biological mother is the most acceptable to a child,” the doctor said.

George Gregory’s expression was cold. Louise Mitchell’s release would take some time.

At the soonest, it would take a month. If it took a little longer…

In that case, Simon would probably have to suffer many more times.

Although he had little affection for Louise Mitchell and would not pity her tragic end, he did have affection for his only son.

For some reason, he felt something every time it came to his son.

Therefore, he would save Simon at any cost. Even if Louise Mitchell were guilty, he would get her acquitted!

As if suddenly sensing something, George Gregory stopped abruptly and looked in Amber Mitchell’s direction.

He froze upon seeing Amber Mitchell’s figure. He did not expect to meet her in such a place!

However, he could not help squinting when his eyes fell on the red envelope she was holding.

The red envelope… If his eyes did not deceive him, he had sent someone to give it to the four people who donated blood to Simon as an expression of gratitude.

However, why was Amber Mitchell holding the red envelope in her hand? Could it be that…

George Gregory walked over to Amber Mitchell, stared at her, and asked, “What’s the matter? Did you donate blood today?”

Amber Mitchell froze before staring at the red envelope, then George Gregory. After a moment, she remembered what she had heard before. “Is the child who needs a full-body blood transfusion today yours?”

“Yes, do you regret it? You probably wouldn’t have volunteered to donate blood if you had known it was my child,” said George Gregory.

He had heard from his doctor that a non-hospital worker happened to hear that a child needed type-B blood and offered to donate without even knowing the child’s identity.

He had been wondering what kind of person they were. Who knew it was her?

Even if she did not donate, he could have found plenty of other donors… Why her?

“I have no regrets. I want to save the child. So what if he’s your and Louise Mitchell’s child? Grown-ups’

affairs are between grown-ups. The child has nothing to do with us,” Amber Mitchell said indifferently.

‘Nothing to do?’ George Gregory suddenly felt a sense of irony.

She had no idea he married Louise Mitchell because of the child.

“Since you gave me this red envelope, I’ll return it to you. I donated blood to those in need. I don’t need a red envelope.” With that said, Amber Mitchell handed him the red envelope.

However, George Gregory did not take it. He looked at Amber Mitchell’s face. “I won’t take back what I’ve given away. If you don’t want to accept the red envelope, you can throw it away!”

Amber Mitchell pressed her red lips together, turned around without saying a word, and took the red envelope to the nurses’ station, saying, “Mr. George Gregory is donating this sum to the hospital. Take it.” With that said, she put the red envelope on the counter of the nurses’ station and left.

George Gregory watched Amber Mitchell coldly as she walked past him on her way to the elevator.

Suddenly, he grabbed her arm and said coldly, “I’m going to ask you one last time. Do you really wantto make an enemy out of me? Once you become my opponent, you’ll have nothing!”

Amber Mitchell jerked back her arm with a faint smile. “I already have nothing, so I have nothing to lose. In that case, what do I have to be afraid of?”

With that, Amber Mitchell walked into the elevator.

The elevator door closed slowly, leaving George Gregory staring at the closed elevator door.

It was quite a while before he returned to the ward.

A six or seven-year-old boy lay in the hospital bed. He was pale and wearing an oxygen mask. There was a needle in his arm to transfuse the blood.

The last bag of blood was Amber Mitchell’s.

George Gregory stared blankly at the blood bag hanging in front of him, not expecting Amber Mitchell’s blood to be transfused into his son’s body one day.

However, Louise Mitchell’s blood was the one that could save Simon!

Otherwise, Simon’s condition would only become more critical if it went on like this.

George Gregory quietly sat beside the hospital bed, watching his son struggle for his life. His eyes were filled with a rare look of apology.

Amber Mitchell originally wanted to meet Stan Lucas, Sandra Lucas’s younger brother. He might be the key to determining Louise Mitchell’s role in the accident.

However, she hesitated again when she came to his ward and saw the sweet family there.

If the old case was brought up, Stan Lucas’s fortune would be illicit and it would be confiscated.

Would Stan Lucas be willing to let that happen?

He did not seek justice for Sandra Lucas’s death over the years. Instead, he used the illicit fortune to improve his life. How much family affection would he have now?

Would he give up part of his fortune or even get into trouble with the authorities for a sister who had been dead for years?

Amber Mitchell’s heart sank instantly.

Just then, she noticed from the glass panel in front of her that someone was staring at her in a corner not far behind her. She seemed to have seen this person… around George Gregory before!

With that in mind, Amber Mitchell suddenly shuddered and turned around, only to find ordinary patients, their families, and medical staff behind her. She did not see the person she had just seen.

‘I’m… being followed!
