He peered at her. The look in his eyes was complex. “Do you regret it now?”

“What?” She was confused.

“I’m asking if you regret it now. Do you regret speaking so ruthlessly to me in the hospital that day and stubbornly choosing to dump me? If you hadn’t said those words and done those. things, I probably wouldn’t have chosen to forget our relationship. I would do whatever you wanted. You wouldn’t even need to ask me.”

He got up and approached her as he spoke, “Kyla, do you regret it?”

His questioning made her panic.

‘Do I regret it? Disregarding Mrs. Weiss’s request, the choice l made was what I thought was the best solution.’

She did not want him to give up everything to love her. She wanted him to be alive and well.

“What’s the point of asking this now?” she asked.

An icy smile appeared on his thin lips. “What if I insist on knowing?”

His approach only stressed her.

Kyla subconsciously stepped back until she reached the wall.

There was no more room behind her.

His hands were pressed against the walls on either side of her body. It almost seemed as if she was imprisoned in his arms.

He leaned down gently, his breath spraying on her face while his cold voice rang in her ears. “Do you regret it?”

She shuddered, her long eyelashes covering her eyes. She had experienced too many things.

Moments later, she looked up at him. “I just made the best choice for you and me.”

“The best choice?” He looked at her mockingly. “Who are you to say you and me? Did you ask me?

You arrogantly decided without even asking me!”

“I…” She paused.

He raised his fingers to her lips. “You know what? If you had said that you regretted it, maybe I would’ve said yes to your request and let Jacqueline Bowman off. Unfortunately, you missed the chance.”

She met his eyes. “You wouldn’t say yes to my request even if I did say I regretted it.” It was because he was no longer the man who loved her. He would never agree so easily just because she said she regretted it.

After so many years, she understood how ruthless a man like him could be to someone he did not love.

Besides, she had hurt him.

“Who are you going to ask for help from if I refuse? Chase Harper?” There was a hint of jealousy in his voice that he did not notice.

Kyla looked at Martin Weiss in surprise. “Why did you mention Chase?”

He asked in reply, “What’s the matter? Can’t I mention him? Does he mean a lot to you? Kyla, how dare you? One moment, you’re begging me, and the next moment, you came back with Chase Harper.”

“Chase has nothing to do with us. I just ran into him on the street,” she said in a panic.

“Ran into him?” He was unconvinced. “What a coincidence to run into each other in L City like that. Tell me, what are the odds of two Emerald City residents running into each other in another city?”

Kyla had a headache. He probably would not believe her no matter how she explained it.

“It’s really a coincidence, Martin Weiss. I’m sorry for rejecting you, okay? Don’t take your anger out on Chase,” she said.

However, her explanation irritated him. The mention of ‘Chase’

made him frown. “Do you want to protect Chase Harper so much? Are you afraid I’ll lay a hand on him and take my anger out on him?”

“I just don’t want innocent people to get hurt!” she said.

“Innocent?” He chuckled. “So you don’t love Chase Harper and have no feelings for him?”

She took a deep breath. “Even if there are any feelings, it’s just friendship. I’ve never loved Chase!”

“Then who do you love?” He demanded.

She pressed her lips together tightly and looked away from his face.

How could she tell him that he was the one she loved!

He was her first love and the person she wanted to be with all her life.

It was just that they had experienced so much later on that she thought she had stopped loving him and gotten over him. However, it turned out that… the love remained deep in her heart.

It seemed to be deepening bit by bit too.

“I don’t have anyone I love… at the moment. I just want to raise my two children in peace,” she whispered.

He said, “It would be best if that’s true. I don’t want my children to call another man ‘Daddy’.”

Martin Weiss stepped back after saying that. Then, he stuffed the phone he was holding back into her hands.

“Kyla, instead of spending time with Chase Harper, why don’t you figure out how to get me to agree to your request? After all, you came to Emerald City to ask me for help, didn’t you?” he said.

She bit her red lip and glared at him.

Once Martin Weiss left the room, Kyla seemed to go weak.

She did not know why Martin Weiss suddenly burst into her room and spoke to her like that.

Did he come here to throw a tantrum because he was jealous after seeing her and Chase together?

It might have been possible if it were before.

However, had he not lost his feelings for her? He should not be jealous, then.

Besides, his last words seemed to be encouraging her to beg him more.

Kyla was confused.

On the other hand, after Martin Weiss returned to Weiss Residence, Mrs. Weiss stepped forward and said, “You’re back. Why are you so late today?”

“I had some social engagements,” Martin Weiss replied indifferently.

“There’s a banquet in a couple of days, and I’d like you to accompany me,” said Mrs. Weiss.

Martin Weiss raised his hand and rubbed his brows. He knew that many socialites in tMason Swansonty would probably be attending the banquet his mother mentioned.

Since his return to L City, his mother had started introducing him to some of tMason Swansonty’s socialites. However, he was not interested in them.

“Don’t forget, Mom. I’m married. It’s inappropriate for me to attend these things,” said Martin Weiss.

“You can get a divorce at any time. You only married for the sake of the children. I think Kyla won’t

refuse if you ask for a divorce.

We can give her more compensation,” said Mrs. Weiss.

Martin Weiss said, “But I’m not interested in meeting and dating another woman while the marriage is still valid. Mom, it’s fine if you only want me to go to a party with you, but I don’t want you to set me up with anyone right now.”

“You…” Mrs. Weiss’s expression changed. “Are you still thinking about Kyla? I heard that woman came here from Emerald City and would wait outside your office every day. She’s not here to seduce you again after going back on her word, is she? I thought she was nice for so readily agreeing to break up with you, but now…”

Mrs. Weiss seemed to realize something as she suddenly stopped talking in the middle of her sentence.

Martin Weiss narrowed his eyes and stared at his mother. “What’s the matter? Mom, were you involved in her decision to break up with me?”

“What are you talking about? I’m involved? Why would I be involved? Or did that woman say something to you?”

After staring at Mrs. Weiss suspiciously for a moment, Martin Weiss said softly, “I’m tired. I’m going back to my room.”

It was not until Martin Weiss was upstairs that Mrs. Weiss heaved a sigh of relief. She felt guilty when her son stared at her like that.

When Martin Weiss returned to his room, the driver texted him to tell him where Chase Harper was staying.

Martin Weiss dialed a number on his phone and said to the person on the other end of the line, “I’ll text you something later. Help me find out the purpose of this person’s visit to L City and his recent itinerary.

Besides that, I want you to get men to follow someone.”

“Okay, Mr. Weiss,” they replied respectfully.

Martin Weiss put down the phone, went to a secret door in the room, and pushed it open.

It was a square room about ten square feet.

However, there was a mannequin in the middle of the room that wore a white wedding dress, veil, shoes, and others. It was a complete set.

He had the wedding dress custom-made according to Kyla’s size.

However, he had never shown Kyla the wedding dress, so she was unaware that a wedding dress like this even existed.

Photos of Kyla were hung on the walls around the room. There were photos of her smiling at the camera as well as those that were taken candidly.

The greatest difference was that the photos of her facing the camera were photos from when they were dating. At that time, her smile was bright and gentle as if she had nothing to worry about.

In the photos that were secretly taken after, worry seemed to cloud her eyes.

He should have emptied the room.

Since he no longer had feelings for Kyla, there was no need for him to keep the photos and wedding dress.

However, he was somewhat reluctant to do it as if he had some sort of nostalgia.

What was he nostalgic about?

“Kyla, I don’t love you anymore,” he murmured as if to remind himself of this reality.

Grace had been thinking about Martin Weiss’s hypnosis. She even asked Jason if he could find the hypnotist “The person is now abroad, and Martin Weiss probably paid them.

a lot of money after they hypnotized him. I’m afraid it won’t be easy to trace their whereabouts now,” said Jason.

“What about Secretary Wang? Did you find anything? If Martin Weiss was able to find the hypnotist, it means Secretary Wang had a special way to contact the person,” said Grace.

Jason looked at Grace. “What do you think I should offer Secretary Wang in exchange for finding the hypnotist? Besides, so what if we find the hypnotist? Martin Weiss has already been hypnotized and forgotten his feelings for Kyla.”
