“By the way, Kyla, be careful when you give birth. Ask Martin Weiss to check everyone so that no one can do anything in secret.” Lina reminded her.

Grace said, “Don’t worry. After witnessing what has happened to you, Martin Weiss won’t dare to be careless. I’m afraid he’ll even look into the doctors and nurses’ ancestors.”

Kyla forced a smile. With what had just happened to her and Martin Weiss, she would probably… be alone when she gave birth.

On the second floor, a group of children surrounded the crib to watch Tina Stephenson as she slept soundly.

All newborn babies less than a month old did nothing much besides eating and sleeping. Tina Stephenson was no exception.

Mick Reed frowned as if he was pondering something. His mother had told him Aunt Lina’s newborn baby was beautiful, but he did not find her very beautiful at all.

Mick Reed looked at his sister. ‘Um… Jasper looks a lot better.’

Jasper stared at the baby curiously before carefully touching the baby’s face. She thought that the baby was tiny, just like some of her bigger dolls.

William was not paying attention to the baby at all. All his attention was on Jasper Reed.

“How cute!” Veronica Barlow mumbled as she looked at the baby.

She had nothing to do with the Stephenson family, but aunt Cummins wanted to bring Mason here, and Mason insisted on bringing her. Hence, she came to have a look too.

Her eyes lit up as soon as she saw the baby. She thought the tiny baby felt soft and looked cute.

Just then, as if feeling the gazes of so many people, the baby opened her eyes and began to cry.

The confinement nanny nearby immediately held the baby and coaxed her. Soon, the baby stopped crying, and her dark eyes seemed to be looking around for something.

Veronica Barlow found the baby utterly cute and could not help asking, “May I hold her?”

The confinement nanny looked at Veronica Barlow. She was already seven or eight years old and could hold a baby, so she carefully handed the baby to Veronica Barlow while telling her how to carry Tina Stephenson. After Veronica Barlow took over the baby, the confinement nanny maintained a protective gesture so that she could catch the baby in time in case Veronica Barlow lost her grip and dropped Tina Stephenson.

However, Veronica Barlow seemed pretty skillful at carrying the baby.

“You’re good at carrying the baby,” praised Nelson Corbyn.

“Hehe, it’s probably because I used to carry Mason a lot. When Mason first joined my family, I used to carry him every night,” said Veronica Barlow. Mason was already three years old at that time, and she was only five years old.

Hence, it was much more difficult to hold Mason.

It was relatively easy for her to carry the baby now.

Mason seemed upset when he saw Veronica Barlow looking so happy carrying the baby. “Sis, I want to go to the back garden to play!” said Mason.

“Oh, now?” asked Veronica Barlow.

“Now,” Mason said firmly.

Veronica Barlow could only return the baby to the confinement nanny, and Mason swiftly dragged her out of the room.

Jasper was eager to hold the baby. “I want to carry Tina too!”

The confinement nanny hesitated a little. “You’re too small. Can you carry her?”

“Yes! I won’t drop Tina,” Jasper said affirmatively.

Nelson Corbyn thought about it and said, “Let Jasper sit on the couch. It’s safer for her to carry Tina that way.”

The confinement nanny accepted the suggestion after thinking it over, so she asked Jasper to sit on the couch before carefully handing the baby in her arms to Jasper Reed.

Nelson Corbyn and Mick Reed sat on either side of Jasper Reed. Nelson Corbyn reminded her now and then, “Keep your arms steady. Yes, that’s it. Your arm should support the baby’shead. The baby will feel comfortable if you hold her well…”

Just then, the baby’s head turned before she gave a yawn.

As if she had discovered something new, Jasper said with a smile, “The baby’s yawning. Haha, she looks so cute when she yawns! Nelson, did you see the baby yawn just now?”

“Yes,” Mick Reed replied lazily.

Nelson Corbyn said, “It seems Tina’s comfortable.”

Tina, hurry and grow up. I have a lot of beautiful dolls. I’ll give you some to play with when the time comes!” Jasper appeared like a big sister.

Tina Stephenson seemed to understand this. The corners of her lips curved as if she was smiling.

Therefore, Jasper became even more excited. “Look, Nelson. Tina’s smiling at me. Does she like me too?”

“Yeah, she must really like you,” Nelson Corbyn said gently.

William felt like a fifth wheel as he watched the scene unfold.

He looked down and slowly walked out of the room.

He should not have come here in the first place. He had nothing to do with this place.

William went out to the corridor. When he passed the window, he happened to see Veronica Barlow and Mason talking about something in the back garden. After a while, Veronica Barlow took the initiative to embrace Mason.

William watched the scene on tiptoes and felt a little disappointed. If only Jasper could hug him like that too.

He looked down and squatted not far from the stairway, where the people downstairs would not see him. aunt Cummins and the rest would not ask him why he had left the room alone.

In the garden, Veronica Barlow was embracing Mason as she kept saying, “Alright, you’re cuter than Tina. I like you the most, Mason. I will hug you every day from now on, okay?”

Mason had dragged her to the garden. Unexpectedly, Mason kept asking her whether he or Tina Stephenson was cuter.

After that, he even insisted that she hug him.

Veronica Barlow thought Mason was a little petty. She just wanted to hug Tina because she thought she was cute, but he looked unhappy.

“Are you going to hold me like Tina?” he asked.

“You’re too big for me to hold you like that!” said Veronica Barlow. Besides, she was not strong enough to hold him like that!

“Then… don’t carry her again. I don’t like it,” said Mason.

“Don’t you like her? Tina’s so cute,” Veronica Barlow said in confusion.

Mason nodded. He disliked Tina Stephenson because she liked Tina Stephenson. “You’re my sister. Didn’t you say you like me the most?”

“Uh, I do like you the most, but I can like other people too,” muttered Veronica Barlow.

Looking at Mason’s unhappy face, she reluctantly said, “Okay, okay, I won’t carry Tina Stephenson anymore.” She probably would not have the chance to come here again anyway.

‘I can’t carry the baby if I don’t see her!’ Veronica Barlow thought to herself.

Mason finally smiled and asked Veronica Barlow to hug him. again.
