“Well, how about it?” Anthony Sherman asked. She had always been so straightforward but it was more comfortable this way. At least, he did not have to keep his guard up in front of her. He did not have to deal with the schemes and plots like in his workplace and would not feel any pressure.

“What do you think?” asked Anthony Sherman.

Lina smiled. “Okay, then we’re friends now, alright? I’m glad to have a friend like you!”

“I thought we were already friends,” said Anthony Sherman. Then, they looked at each other and smiled again.

After talking things over, Lina had a wonderful.meat.

After the meal, Lina asked Anthony Sherman to accompany her to shop around the area to help with digestion as well as pick out gifts for Nelson, Mick, and Jasper.

At the same time, Lina told Anthony Sherman about Mason. “You don’t know how many bruises there were on the child when he took off his clothes. I can’t believe his family did such a thing. Even if he’s adopted and not their biological child, they can’t beat him up like that! The sight of it really pissed me off! If I had a child, I’d worry about not loving them enough.”

“You’re going to be a great mother,” said Anthony Sherman.

“I don’t know if I’ll ever be a mother.” Lina shrugged. After all, she was already 33 years old. A woman could only bear children up till a certain age. Although many women over 40 still had children, they were a minority.

“Let go of me!” The woman struggled as she stared maliciously at Lina. “Lina, how could you? Yes, I secretly took the photos, posted them on the company’s forum, and sold the photos of you and Hadwin Stephenson entering and leaving the hotel to another party. But how… How would I know who they were? Someone contacted me and offered me a lot of money for the photos. I had no reason not to sell!”

Lina froze when she heard that. She did not expect Holly Greer-her former colleague who was standing before her-to have anything to do with how the photos had spread from the company’s forum to the internet.

Holly Greer had often liked to trample over her and taunt her! However, after her incident with Hadwin Stephenson subsided, the design office fired Holly Greer.

Lina sneered and said, “You slapped me just now. Why can’t I slap you back?”

“I slapped you because you went too far! I only sold a few photos of you yet you made my life miserable!” Holly Greer snapped.

Lina retorted, “Do you have any proof that it’s my fault the design office fired you and you can’t get a job? But you just confessed what you did to me! Holly Greer, we were colleagues, yet you had to pick on me. What good did that do for you?”

Lina said, “What’s the matter? Are you going to continue to make a fool of yourself? I can tell you with certainty that I never told the director to dismiss you, nor did I stop others from hiring you. I’m not that powerful!”

Holly Greer shouted, “You’re not powerful, but Hadwin Stephenson is! It’s you! You asked Hadwin Stephenson to get back at me!”

Lina’s expression sank as she stared at Holly Greer and sneered. “If I’m that powerful, how do you think I’m going to pay you back for that slap you gave me and what you just said to me? Since Hadwin Stephenson will help me do whatever I want, it’s a piece of cake if I want to make sure you can no longer stay in Emerald City!”

As soon as she said this, Holly Greer’s face turned pale with fear.

Lina turned to Anthony Sherman and said, “Yulai, let her go.”

Only then did Anthony Sherman let go of Holly Greer’s arm.

Holly Greer was no longer as aggressive as before and became a little nervous.

“Lina!” shouted Anthony Sherman as he reached out to grab Lina’s hand, but another person acted quicker than him and caught Lina first.

Due to gravity, Lina took the man down the escalator with her.

All Anthony Sherman heard was the loud crash of someone falling to the floor. Then, he heard the startled voices of pa**ersby around him.

Anthony Sherman quickly crouched down beside the escalator and pressed the emergency stop button, making the escalator halt.

It was only a few seconds but Lina felt as though it had been a century.

Instead of being in pain, she only felt a pair of arms tightly hugging her. She was leaning against a broad chest. The hugging her had taken the brunt of the fall.

The person’s scent immediately told her who it was!

Hadwin Stephenson!

It was Hadwin Stephenson!

Even though Lina did not see Hadwin Stephenson’s face, she was sure that the person hugging her was Hadwin Stephenson!

The escalator… stopped!

“Did you hurt yourself?” The familiar yet strange voice rang out from above her head.

Lina looked up to the man who had protected her. ‘He’s the one in pain, isn’t he? He became a human cushion!’

“I… I’m fine,” she said quickly. She saw that his face was unusually pale and his brows were furrowed as though he was suppressing his pain. A thin layer of sweat had also broken out on his forehead.

Lina hurriedly got up. “Are you… okay?”

Hadwin Stephenson gasped a little. “I’m fine.”
