Under the moonlight, Terrence saw the stunning face of the man who had the most authority and wealth growing tense because of the suffering he was enduring. His dark eyes seemed almost lifeless, just like a corpse.

Suddenly, Terrence had a feeling that if Grace really left the world, Young master Reed would become someone without a soul if he were to continue living.

Lina could not bring herself to believe that Grace had jumped into the sea. That day, they had been talking on the phone and even talked about the incident that took place during New Year’s. Yet, Grace had vanished now.

The police officers and Reed family were spending tremendous amounts of effort and had sent out many people to search for Grace. Nevertheless, they still failed to locate

Grace’s whereabouts.

Even Martin Weiss had rushed to the scene and mobilized the human resources he had to help out with the search.

Lina kept telling herself in her head that her best friend would not die just like that. ‘They haven’t found anything yet, right? Perhaps someone has already rescued her?’

However, deep in her heart, another voice was reminding her that her best friend had fallen from the cliff along with her car. Even if her best friend managed to free herself from the ropes that bound her at the eleventh hour and left the car from the sunroof, the possibility of surviving was way too low.

‘After all, if Grace is still alive, then why hasn’t she shown up after so many days? And no one reported to the police saying that she had been rescued either!

The police officers and the Reed family were looking for her at the site of the accident. News of this had shaken Emerald City hard. There were high rewards being offered as well. Even the ordinary citizens of Emerald City had come to know about this news.

On the other hand, Kyla and Nelson were anxiously waiting for updates on Grace’s whereabouts. Every day, Nelson would ask countless times whether Grace had been found. As for Kyla, she could only reply bitterly each time. “They’ll find her. Look, there are so many people looking for her. They’ll definitely be able to find her.”

“Is Aunt Grace dead?” Nelson asked at the entrance of the kindergarten. There was a worried look on his small face.

He had heard from the adults that there was a high chance Grace was already dead. Currently, the search was just to locate her corpse. Even though he was still young and was still rather muddled about matters regarding life and death, he still knew that once Grace was dead, he would not be able to meet her again!

He still wanted to meet Aunt Grace and wished for the day to never arrive. He still wanted to play with Aunt Grace and be a good brother to the babies in Aunt Grace’s tummy.

“No.” However, the person who answered him was not Kyla but Martin Weiss.

Martin Weiss walked to the front of Nelson and said to his son, “She’s still alive.”

It was as if Nelson had yet to completely accept Martin Weiss. After seeing Martin Weiss approaching him, he subconsciously shielded Kyla as though his father might harm his mother. It was up to him to protect his mother.

He was just a four-year-old kid, yet he had his guard up.

The sight of it made Martin Weiss taste something bitter in his mouth, but he had no way to vent out his frustration, and neither could he complain about it. It was because it was his fault that they had fallen to this state now!

At the very beginning, Nelson used to love him as well and would even show affectionate smiles to him. Nelson would request him to carry him and ride on his neck, even greeting him as ‘Daddy.

However, currently… Everything was different! It was all because of his foolishness that made Nelson distance himself from him.

“Rest a**ured, Daddy won’t hurt Mommy. No matter what happens, I’ll never do it again,” Martin Weiss muttered softly.

He knew that he might have to live the rest of his life feeling guilty.

Kyla held her son’s hand and turned around to head in the direction of the bus station.

Martin Weiss’s eyes glinted darkly. Then, he followed them.

The three of them, two at the front and one behind, walked straight ahead. When the bus arrived, Martin Weiss could not help himself and suddenly asked, “Do you… Do you have nothing else to say to me?”

Kyla turned around and looked at Martin Weiss faintly. “I’m very grateful that you’re willing to help search for Grace, but regarding our past, I’ve nothing much to comment on.””

All she ever said to him these days was that she had nothing to comment on.

When the bus had left far away, Martin Weiss was still standing in front of the station while daydreaming. The bitter feeling was still in him.

He had lots of things to talk to her about now, but she no longer wanted to talk to him.

‘However, at the very least… she’s still alive!

Perhaps her being alive was the greatest thing heaven could gift him.

Martin Weiss recalled the moment he saw the look on Jason’s face. That devastation and dispirited aura… He seemed to be using sheer willpower to hold down the fort.

It was completely different from how Jason seemed before. In just a short period, a man who had total control in Emerald City had become devastated.

Jason had great influence in Emerald City, and everyone was aware of it. No one ever thought that this man would be easily defeated. However, once his woman went missing, it made this man utterly lifeless.

If they managed to find Grace but it was just her corpse, then Jason… would perhaps be no different than a dead person.

The huge empire of Reed group would just come crashing down.

‘Will the future of Emerald City change?’ Martin Weiss sighed.

Time slowly pa**ed as day after day went by. However, there was still no news about Grace. Despite the continuous expansion of the area of search, with them searching not just the sea but tMason Swansonty as well, everyone no longer held on to any ray of hope.

No one thought that Grace would still be alive. Now, it was just a matter of time before they spotted her corpse.

Terrence softly pushed the room door open and looked at Jason who was in the room. The man with the highest authority in Emerald City was currently lying on the ground in such an embarra**ing state. His hands were clenching the clothes that Grace used to wear.

The floor was scattered with Grace’s photos that showed her at different stages in her life. There were photos of her from her adolescent days till her adulthood. She was smiling brightly in each of the photos.

However, the sweeter the smile was in the photo, the more it made others feel heartbroken.

“Young master Reed…” Terrence softly spoke, “The group still needs your leadership. There are a few upcoming projects that you need to approve as well. If you continue being like this, then…”

“Still no news on Grace?” His hoarse voice interrupted Terrence with a mutter. However, he still did not open his eyes and they remained shut.

It was as if at that moment, he was hugging the person he loved most. He could even smell Grace’s scent.

He was not willing to wake up from this fantasy. If he was awakened, only endless sufferings awaited him.

“No…” said Terrence. It had already been more than 40 days, and the search party had put it bluntly when they said that her corpse was probably eaten by large fishes in the sea. They were no longer able to locate her corpse.

It was just that Terrence dared not tell his boss that.

He was afraid the moment he said it, Young master Reed would really go crazy.
