“If you believe me, remove those people and just let Huang Qian follow me to protect me like before. You don’t have to get so many people to follow me every time I go out.” It made her feel like she was being monitored by a lot of people.
“No.” He rejected her immediately.
“Why?” she asked.
“In any case, you need to have a lot of people around you to protect you,” Jason said in a deep voice. He did not want to tell her about Secretary Wang or Lily’s escape.
After all, some of it was just his speculation. He was still unsure whether it was true. She was due to have a cesarean section in a week, and he was afraid it would be bad for her health if she got worried.
A sudden feeling of disappointment struck Grace’s heart. He kept saying he believed her, but… he still did not believe her.
“Jason, is there so little trust between us? What do I have to do for you to believe that I won’t leave you?” she asked, unconsciously raising her voice.
He stared at her. Those eyes almost seemed to see through her.
“Then kiss me.”
“What?” She was stunned and was a little at a loss all of a sudden.
“Kiss me. I’ll believe you won’t leave me if you kiss me.”
‘Just give me some confidence so I can firmly believe that you really love me!’
It seemed that his love for her was deepening, yet it felt as though he was the only one growing attached to her in this relationship.
She only married him because of the kids and Lina. Later, she was willing to love him again because she wanted to give the children a complete and happy family. Even when she said she would forgive him, he could not help wondering if it was also for the children?
Did she forgive him just so the children could have a complete family?
Was that why she said she would forgive him but her body still resisted him?
Grace stared blankly at Jason and took a long time to digest what he had just said.
‘Did he just ask me to… kiss him? But I simply can’t touch him.’ Whenever she touched him, her body would almost instinctively stiffen and she would even… feel nauseous!
Her silence made him laugh mockingly at himself. “You can’t do it, right? I’ll remove those people when you can do it.”
He was about to turn away as he spoke.
“Wait!” she said suddenly as she subconsciously reached out to grab him!
She did not want him to just walk away like this. It made her feel that there might be a misunderstanding between them if she just let him leave.
She did not want any misunderstandings!
“You’ll believe me if I kiss you, right?” She grabbed his arm.
Instantly, her body stiffened.
‘Never mind. It’s alright. I’ll forget about the past. The man before me isn’t the Master Reed who ignored me back then; he’s Jay, the man who loves me deeply!’
Grace kept telling herself as she kept her hand on Jason’s arm.
There was a slight look of surprise on Jason’s face. Out of the corners of his eyes, he glanced at the hand holding his arm. Moments later, the word ‘yes’ was gently uttered from his thin lips.
Grace took a deep breath, took a step forward, and put her hands around Jason’s neck.
She was utterly stiff, and her every movement made her seem like a robot. However, she kept trying.
Standing on her tiptoes, she looked at the handsome face right in front of her.
They were so close that she could see his eyelashes. She could even see herself in his black pupils.
‘I just need to get a little closer and I can kiss him!
‘That way, he’ll believe me!
‘He’ll believe that I’ve forgiven him and I won’t leave him! Does Jay know I love him and don’t want to miss this chance of being together with him?’
He was the man who loved her the most, and no one would love her as much as he did.
The truth of that incident was indeed very painful to her that she had even hated him for a moment, but he had suffered too.
When she thought about it, she remembered how he had asked her several times before when they were together to forgive him if he did something wrong.

Grace stiffly stood on her tiptoes, bringing her lips closer to his little by little.
His breath almost enveloped her, and his face was enlarged before her eyes. This only made her body grow stiffer.
She closed her eyes and told herself that he would believe her if she kissed him.
He would not misunderstand her if she kissed him!
Her heart beat faster and faster. She shuddered when her lips finally touched his. Then, she suddenly took a step back and covered her lips with a hand. She turned around, dashing to the bathroom.
“Blaargh… Blaargh…” Grace threw up at the sink.
She threw up almost everything she ate that morning.
After a while, she finally stopped vomiting. She propped her arms weakly against the sink. Suddenly, as if realizing something, she turned her head and looked at Jason who was standing by the bathroom door.
His tall body stood quietly by the door. His pale face and deep eyes were full of self-mockery as well as anguish. “Grace, you can’t do it, after all. Your body can’t lie.”
“No, I—” She hurriedly wanted to explain, but he cut her short.
“You only said you were willing to forgive me for the kids’ sake, am right? You don’t want the kids to grow up in a broken family, so you’re willing to forgive me! I know that, but… it would be nice if you’re forgiving me because you have some love for me.”
“It’s not because of the kids. I’m willing to forgive you because I love you. Jay, I love you!” Grace exclaimed as she fought back against the discomfort of having just thrown up.
“Really?” His brows relaxed slightly and he looked down. “If you do love me, then stay here in the house and don’t go anywhere. We still have decades…”
If her love for him were really gone, he would make her fall in love with him again in these few decades!
“I’ll let the caregiver come in and take care of you.” With that, Jason turned around and walked out of the room.
Grace bit her lip and could only smile wryly as she looked at
Jason’s back.
He did not believe her at all.
Jason walked out of the room. The hands hanging by his sides were slightly clenched.
When she took hold of his arm, wrapped her arms around his neck, and was about to kiss him, did she know how nervous and expectant he was?
However… it was just another disappointment in the end.
