When Jason walked out of the kitchen, he only saw Grace asleep on the couch, covered with a blanket.

The couch was large enough so she would not fall off in her sleep.

Besides, the caregiver was beside her.

“How long has she been asleep?” Jason asked the caregiver nearby.

“An hour or so,” the caregiver replied.

Jason bent down, raised his hand, and gently touched Grace’s cheek.

It was only at a time like this when he could touch her. Or else, she would throw up again when she was awake because of her body’s resistance to him.

The caregiver’s eyes could not help but flash with shock.

She was a**igned to take care of Mrs. Reed but had never seen Master Reed before this. She had always thought that Mrs. Reed probably only got to join the Reed family because she was pregnant and Master Reed did not care about Young Madam at all.

However, the situation now made the caregiver a little dumbfounded.

Master Reed looked like he cared a lot about Young Madam! He was so careful in touching her as if he was touching a rare treasure.

Suddenly, Grace’s eyelashes fluttered a little. She opened her eyes in a daze. When she caught sight of Jason’s face, she murmured, “Jay…”

He immediately stiffened but had already subconsciously withdrawn his hand.

“I’m sorry I woke you. Go back to sleep if you’re still sleepy,” he said.

“No, I won’t be able to sleep tonight if I go back to sleep,” she said as she slowly sat up.

He subconsciously wanted to help her sit up but seemed to think of something, so he lowered his hands and asked the caregiver to help Grace.

“You should go wash up. I’ll ask them to serve the food,” said Jason.

“Okay,” replied Grace as she moved to get up.

Due to her big belly, she moved very slowly now.

When she finished washing up and came to the dining room, she saw Jason sitting quietly on a chair beside the dining table. It seemed that he was looking at his hands.

‘What’s wrong… with his hands?’ Grace wondered.

When she finished washing up and came to the dining room, she saw Jason sitting quietly on a chair beside the dining table. It seemed that he was looking at his hands.

‘What’s wrong… with his hands?’ Grace wondered.

As if sensing her gaze, he suddenly looked up. He came forward and helped her pull out her chair but never touched her.

Today was their first Chinese New Year after she married into the Reed family. The maids and the caregiver did not have New Year’s Eve dinner with them and were in another small hall.

Therefore, there were only Grace and Jason at this large dining table.

There was a variety of food today, and the dishes were almost all her favorites. Grace ate the meal mouthful after mouthful. She would glance at Jason from time to time out of the corners of her eyes. Now that she had seen him again, some things…

“Why do you keep peeking at me? You can just look at me if you want. We’re husband and wife, aren’t we?” Jason said suddenly.

Grace instantly felt embarra**ed. She had been caught peeking.

“You know what? I’m happy,” he continued saying.

She was stunned. “Happy?”

“I’m happy you let me have this New Year’s Eve dinner with you. I’m happy you… wanted to see me.” His eyes stared at her. “And I’m happy you’re calling me ‘Jay’ again. Grace, have you thought of me these days?”

She looked at him blankly. Of course, she had thought of him. She thought about all that had happened between them as well as their future.

“I miss you so much. I’ve been thinking about you these days.” Jason’s mutters slowly drifted into the air.

Grace bit her lip slightly, and as if she had made up her mind, she said, “Yes, I’ve thought of you.”

The moment she said so, his eyes seemed to sparkle like bright stars. They were shimmering, and a beautiful smile appeared on the corners of his lips.

“You thought of me… You thought of me…” he muttered as if he was excited. There were tears in his beautiful peach blossom eyes.

She looked at his excited face and momentarily fell into a trance. ‘Could a word from me make him behave like this?

‘I know he loves me, and there’s no doubt about it.

‘And I love him too. Don’t I?’

“Let’s eat first. The food is going to get cold if we don’t,” said Grace.

“Okay, let’s eat first. It’s our first time spending Chinese New Year together. You’ll have New Year’s Eve dinner with me every year after this as well, right?” he asked, looking nervous and hopeful.

She knew what he wanted to hear, and she did not want to see him disappointed.

“Yes, we’ll have New Year’s Eve dinner together every year onward,” she said.

It was a promise, but it also fulfilled his expectations and desire.

The next moment, two streams of tears suddenly poured out of Jason’s eyes and rolled down his face. He was crying, but the corners of his lips were smiling.

His smile was like the most beautiful scenery in springtime.

For a moment, Grace only felt waves of pain in her heart.

It took them quite some time to finish New Year’s Eve dinner because of Jason’s crying.

“I… want to watch the Spring Festival Gala show later. Will you watch it with me?” said Grace. Speaking of which, she had not watched the Spring Festival Gala show in years.

She vaguely recalled watching the Spring Festival Gala show in her grandmother’s arms when she was a child.

Later, she returned to her so-called home in tMason Swansonty. However, it was always her father, stepmother, and sister, Evelyn, who gathered in front of the TV and watched the show on New Year’s Eve. She was like an outsider, never fitting in.

It was only during the two years she was dating Sean that they made a conscious effort to be nice to her, but she had never felt like they were one family.

Jason replied, “Okay. I’ll watch it with you if you want to.”

At eight o’clock, the show began!

Grace and Jason sat on the living room couch and watched the show on the huge TV screen.

It was an experience Grace had never had.

She seemed to have peace of mind now. This moment felt similar to how she used to watch the show with her grandmother, but… there were still some differences.

Maybe it was because… Jay was not only her family but also the person she loved.

When the show got to the singing and dancing segment, Grace suddenly turned her head and looked at Jason who was sitting next to her. “Jay, I’ll… try to forget about what happened in the past.”

Jason shuddered suddenly. There was shock, surprise, and expectation but also nervousness in his eyes as he looked at her… “Grace, you…”

‘Could it be what I think it is? Is it possible?’

At the moment, he was like a man waiting for a trial. He was so nervous he was almost at a loss.

“Since we can’t change what has happened in the past, then… I want to let it go and not dwell on it. Just like what Lina said to me, we have to keep moving forward.” Grace took a deep breath, letting go of her struggles and doubts little by little. She finally said what she had been thinking about for so long these days…

“Jay, I’m willing to forgive you, and I won’t leave you. I didn’t forget what I told you. I won’t abandon you as long as you don’t leave me.”
