Filed To Story: Returning to Her Not-So-Poor Family
Chasel’s gaze deepened, and he asked again, “Why?”
Myrna: “Don’t you think she is thoughtful, kind, and gentle? The key point is that she is beautiful, elegant, smart, meticulous, and a joy to be around. Where else are you going to find such a perfect sister?”
Chasel glanced at her and said, “You sure know how to flatter someone.”
“I’m only speaking the truth!” Myrna contemplated for a moment, then looked at Chasel and said, “There’s something you might not want to hear, but I prefer Bella to Serena. She has a broad perspective, principles, responsibility, reason, and initiative.”
“Initiative. Do you mean her ability to hit you?” Chasel couldn’t help but laugh.
“That’s not it! When did she ever hit me?” Myrna defended Mirabella: “If it were you and you found someone spying on your house, wouldn’t you confront them? Bella is super gentle; otherwise, I’d be shark food by now.”
Chasel chuckled. Myrna really knew how to stick up for Mirabella.
Later on, Chasel dropped Myrna off at her doorstep, telling her, “Behave yourself and try to spend more time with your family when you can.”
In their line of work, being away from home for months at a time was par for the course.
Myrna wrapped her arms around Chasel’s neck, stood on her tiptoes, gave him a lingering kiss, then said, “You’re off work for the next couple of days. You’ll get bored hanging out with your sister alone. Why not take me along? Girls have more in common, right?”
Chasel looked down at her, gently saying, “You should get back to work.”
Myrna retorted, “No, I’m sticking with you!”
Chasel eventually gave in, saying, “Alright, we’ll head back together in three days
Myrna exclaimed happily, “Awesome!”
After saying her reluctant goodbyes to Chasel and bately stepping into her house, she received a message.
She thought it was from Mirabella, but to her surprise, it was from Serena. Her mood instantly deflated.
[Are you home yet?] Serena’s message read.
Before Myrna could reply, Serena sent another message: [Mirabella grew up in a small town. I don’t know if she’s been influenced by the locals. What I’m trying to say is, you should be careful with whatever she gives you.]
Annoyed, Myrna replied, [What are you talking about?]
[The gift she gave you in the garden earlier.] Serena clarified.
Myrna realized. [So you’ve been spying on us since then?]
[No, I just happened to pass by and saw.] Serena quickly defended.
Myrna asked, [Do you have a problem with Bella?]
Just one night, and Myrna had already started calling Mirabella “Bella“. That was fast.
[You’ve got it all wrong. I was just trying to be nice.] Serena replied.
Was Myrna already pulling rank, even though she just started dating Chasel?
Myrna retorted, [What Bella gave me was medicine! To help my wound heal faster.] After saying that, Myrna snapped a picture of the bottle and sent it over, saying, [It’s made by a reputable company; I’m sure it’s fine. Besides, what does she stand to gain if something happened to me?]
Who would dare harm someone as important as Myrna?
Looking at the medicine, Serena could tell it must’ve cost a pretty penny.
Who would have thought Mirabella would go to such lengths to win over Myrna?
She must be up to something!
[I should keep my mouth shut to avoid good intentions backfiring.] Serena replied.
[Then shut up already!] Myrna shot back.
Men might be slow on the uptake when it came to emotional affairs, but she could clearly see something was up.
[I heard that when Bella first came back to this house, it was only because she agreed that you could stay. Is that right?] Myrna asked.
Serena clenched her phone. [What are you implying?]
Myrna: [You should be grateful to those who’ve helped you. Your current lifestyle, the comforts you enjoy, and the respect you receive are all thanks to her agreement! Isn’t that reason enough to be thankful?]
Serena clenched her phone tighter, never expecting Myrna to side with Mirabella so blatantly.
Myrna: [Your parents only want peace within the family. And whoever stirs the pot, well, do I need to remind you what happens to them? Also, what’s wrong with someone from a small town? My dad came from one, and look where he is now, all thanks to his own hard work! I was raised by him and became a deputy minister through my own efforts. Do you feel threatened by people from small towns?]
Serena was pissed.
Myrna: [Stop putting on airs in front of me. I’m not Chasel so your tricks won’t work on me. Do you know why I prefer to text chat with you? Because I’ve taken screenshots of all our conversations, don’t even think about deleting parts of it to make it look like I’m bullying you. That’s a trick you fake nice people are good at.]
Serena was fuming, her face red with anger, but she was speechless.
Myrna: [Do you know why I like Mirabella so much? Because she’s not pretentious, not hypocritical, not blindly self–confident, not full of herself, not a troublemaker, not fake. You should learn from her.]
Finally, Myrna said, [If you’re going to continue talking shit about her, don’t message me anymore.]
Serena was livid, and she immediately blocked Myrna,
She angrily tossed her phone onto the table, her chest heaving with rage. It took a while for her to calm down, and then she unblocked Myrna. After all, she was the daughter of a big shot, and she had high status. It was better to keep the connection, it might come in handy later.
But did Myrna think just because she was dating Chasel, she could do whatever she wanted and take jabs at her?
Serena’s eyes turned cold. If Chasel didn’t like her.
Meanwhile.
A luxury car stood by the school gate.
A tall man stood by the car, unfazed by the attention around him, kissing a girl.
“Romeo, enough.” Mirabella was weak in the knees from his kisses. After the kiss, she noticed all eyes were on them and felt embarrassed.
People around were whispering.
“Isn’t that the top scorer, Mirabella?”
“I think so, only she has that kind of look and height.”
“Who’s that guy? His side profile is so handsome, and his legs are so long.”
“Is he a student at our school?”
“Do we have such a handsome guy at our school?”
“It’s too dark, otherwise, we could see more clearly.”
Luckily, there weren’t many people entering and exiting the school at night, no one recognized Romeo.
Mirabella looked up at the man in front of her and said, “I have to go now.”
“Bella,” Romeo was still savoring the kiss, reluctance in his eyes, “call me when you get to the dorm.”
“Okay.”
“Stay away from other guys in school.”
Mirabella couldn’t help but say, “Do you really need to remind me?”
Not long after entering the campus, Mirabella received a call from Chasel.
“Bella, are you back at school?”
“Yes, Chasel.”
“Is there anyone around you? Do you have anything you want to say to me?” Chasel tried to guide her on the phone.
Mirabella was a little confused. “What do you mean?”
“Myrna works for the Ministry of State Security, she’s a deputy minister. How did you get close to her and hurt her?”
Mirabella didn’t expect Chasel to call her out of curiosity about her undercover identity.
She casually replied, “Because Myrna was thinking about you then, she was distracted, that’s why I had the chance.”
The wound on her arm must have been from blocking your kick.”
Chasel had seen the wound on Myrna’s arm, it was definitely not a normal one.
The power of Bella’s kick was definitely beyond that of an ordinary person.
Well then, since she couldn’t hide it.
Mirabella was ready to confess everything, but Chasel gently said, “I’m not trying to pry into your personal matters. I just want to know if you’re safe, if what you’re doing is dangerous. If you need help, you can come to me and I can help you.”
Mirabella felt warm in her heart. “Don’t worry, I’m safe and there’s no danger.”
“That’s good. If you don’t want to talk about it, I won’t force you. Chasel could almost picture her obedient and gentle expression on the other end of the phone. Such a good girl, how could she be doing anything dangerous?
He must be overthinking.
‘I’ll pick you up from school tomorrow and take you somewhere fun. You get a good rest tonight.”
He had already informed the school, so Mirabella’s extra–curricular activities wouldn’t be too tough.
“Alright, Chasel, goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
After hanging up the phone, Mirabella thought for a while and then sent him a message.
